A New Appreciation

Unfortunately when I had my 360 and PS3, I wasn't blessed with high speed internet so I wasn't able to experience great indie titles like Braid, Limbo, etc. and even when I did have the opportunity to play these games I didn't appreciate them because all
I wanted to do was play online multiplayer games as much I could. Now with Xbox One, I have a real opportunity to sit down and enjoy the little things. This is my first time to also experience Games With Gold and Deals With Gold and so far I'm very pleased.
I would've never even thought about buying a game like Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, but it was a fantastic little game. I took advantage of the Strider discount and now I'm loving that. Basically now I have a whole new perspective on indie games and now
I just don't overlook them cause some have a true quality to them. Now, I'm looking forward to games like Ori and the Blind Forest, Inside, Cuphead... I feel like a whole new gamer. Anyone else have this revelation?

A new appreciation

I like both but there are certain things about the 360 that I miss, & I'm not referring to the usual stuff we've heard about time & again...

On the Xbox One, whenever a contextual item comes up, like a message or an achievement, I have to hold down the guide button. On the Xbox 360, all I had to do was press it. Why do I have to hold it down on the Xbox One? What was wrong with simply pressing
it on the Xbox 360? Half the time on the Xbox One when I hold it down it asks me if I want to turn off the console or the controller (hint: I don't). It's a minor thing sure, but it still irritates me.

Also, despite the improved voice commands on the Xbox One, I think the simplicity of the commands on the Xbox 360 worked better & were more consistent. Granted, there were less of them. I just hate how the commands on the Xbox One are seemingly inconsistent.
Why have go to & show that only work for certain things? Why not have just 1 of them or even both for everything? For example, I can
show guide but I can't
go to guide, but I can go to just about anything else.

 

A new appreciation

@SMG...... I've been without my Kinect for 2 weeks now..... no turns on that front.... but I'm ok with that because I never used it.

 

Some people are dismissive of indies, but I feel they offer new experiences, with innovative gameplay. There are some great indies out there.

 

The only indie game that interests me so far is Outlast. But I'm waiting on that to go free on Games with Gold.

 

Max is a great little game ,my 6 year old loved it ..

That's the plan. I should be getting them back from the Microsoft service center today, I hope.

 

I had it years ago when Xbox Live Arcade first debuted.

 

Try out Another World, it's a classic game that will kill you over and over and over again.

 

I'm very interested in Valiant Hearts. Anyone play this?

 

I just watched it on Twitch. According to the broadcaster, it's got a great story, but is quite sad due to its theme. He also said the puzzles were easy enough that they don't get in the way of gameplay (which I thought a bit odd because I thought puzzles
were a part of gameplay).

 

Max: The Curse Of Brotherhood is typically not the kind of game I would look at. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I could see dropping some coin on the next one.

Indie games are amazing, there are some really great indie games to experience. With the support that Microsoft have been giving indie developers you can expect some great titles.

 

You guys should try Contrast, I think it's a pretty good game.

I was watching some gameplay videos on Youtube, looks good. I will definitely be picking it up.
