And also, how is THEOWENKILLER an appropriate gamertag when it is referencing the act of murder? This technically is also a violation of the code of conduct.

  2. I am not a microsoft employee.

All you are doing is ranting and trying to justify your own stupidity.

You knew full well the tag was offensive and didn`t get away with it.

If you think my tag is offensive, report it.

If it gets a force change it will prove you are right and i will pay for a new one.

  3. 1) there is no way for them to filter out every possible offensive GT automatically. its in the agreement that you can't have an offensive gamertag. You have to use your best judgement and clearly DlKW33D is offensive.

    2) so after you picked an offensive GT, it eventually got reported enough times to make MS change it to an auto-generated one. you can just use that or pay 10 bucks to change it again.

Its not MS's fault that you went out and spent 10 bucks to create a GT that is against the XBL rules and got caught. Its like if your job tells you that you can't wear shorts, but you go out and spend 20 bucks on a pair of shorts and wear them and they tell
you to go home and change and you get mad you spent 20 bucks on shorts you can't wear and now have to go buy a pair of pants instead and blame your job for it.

I think the problem here is with your reading comprehension. Re-read my original post and have a dictionary and/or adult nearby to help you understand precisely what is being said. Don't make assumptions.

  5. Why don`t you highlight the point we are missing.

The way i read it, you picked an offensive tag as after spending 10 years on live and seeing all the other offensive tags you thought it would be OK.

You got a forced change and are expected to pay $10 for a new one.

You want to know why there is no filter that told you that you can`t have that tag.

You want a free change because the tag you had wasn`t flagged at the point of change.

You are now crying and throwing a tantrum telling us you are going to return your console and quit xbox live over $10.

    Have i missed anything?

  6. Upinya Slayin:

    1) I agree Microsoft can't filter everything. But I really did not think my name was offensive. If you read the original post in it's entirety (which all the responders in this thread only seem to be doing selectively), you'll also see what I mentioned about
    other gamertags.

And the analogy about buying shorts is not very apt for this situation. A more apt comparison would be that a job says you can wear anything to work that is not offensive and only vaguely defining what is offensive. And then they only tell you something
you're wearing is inappropriate if someone complains about it. Not based on an objective analysis of your wardrobe. In the meantime, other employees get away with wearing garishly provocative outfits but since they don't work near anyone who care to complain
they get away with it forever.

I don't see how you're not getting this.

You keep bringing up other gamer tags just because they weren't reported and you were doesn't make yours acceptable

    www.xbox.com/.../codeofconduct

There is nothing vague about the code of conduct.

Your whole argument is coming across as you feeling like you are being singled out.

If there are tags you don`t like on xbox live, get reporting.

  9. It seems like you're attempting to re-frame what I said about the other gamertags. For those of you who keep trying imply that I intentionally picked an offensive gamertag because other people had more offensive ones, pay attention: I did not think my gamertag
was offensive. I only mentioned the other gamertags that were clearly offensive AFTER THE FACT. I didn't say two wrongs make a right. I simply don't believe mine was wrong.

And again: this is poor customer service. I've been searching non-Microsoft threads about this issue and there is a plethora of people who have been arbitrarily punished in the same way.

  10. You mean a "plethora" of people who can`t face the fact they have violated the code of conduct?

  11. I've read the code of conduct and just looked at it again to make sure it hasn't changed since Sunday. Alas, it has not. It has the same vague list of items that can be considered offensive, including references to murder (which your name has THEOWENKILLER).
I did not intentionally pick something I thought was offensive. The way Microsoft has it laid out in the code of conduct, there is a great deal of latitude for interpretation from person to person of what they find offensive. It's highly subjective.

And again, the response by Microsoft was extremely poor customer service.

  12. "Do any actual people post on these threads or just Microsoft employees who are on damage control trolling duty?"

I post here and I have no vested interest whatsoever in Microsoft's Xbox Division success nor failure.

    -

Not knowing what to make of all this, I asked someone about both your tags. She says they both can describe a women's proportions. And something about the UK which I will NOT go into.

Thus I am curious. Did Microsoft generate your current tag?

Lest I forget. I do think (No sure fire way of proving neither for, nor against) that online gaming has no autodetection methods for catching modding/cheating/Rated M tag detection - outside actual gamers reporting such occurrences, whether directly or indirectly.

I also think that when something is reported that then and there the person being reported is banned, or whatever until enforcement personal can take a more direct look. I also think that in this way the system, company, and personnel can deny any wrong
doing by simply saying. "They reported you and the system acted. It's not our fault!"

I think in business they call it. Corporate Deny-Ability?

  13. A Most Painful Experience

ElectroFlying makes a great point by mentioning that my current gamertag can be construed as referencing a woman's proportions. Ironically, this is the automatically generated gamertag that Microsoft assigned me as a result of all this nonsense. This proves
how subjective all of this really is. I can't emphasize that enough. The name I had selected previously was not something that contained explicit profanity, innuendo etc. You can't deny that.

    Bad customer service.
