    A Most Painful Experience

MS does not just change peoples gamertags because people may or may not find them offensive. If it got changed then it specifically violated the code of conduct in some way.

What do you'll think is the hardest mode...

Classic mode is the most painful game play for me because most of the classic weapons will end up with you in pieces.

    Update ha made things worst

Yea, this is out of control. I can't believe it went out like this. $100 investment (game + Premium) and nowhere near a pleasurable, or even a Premium experience. Sigh. BF3 was sooo good. This is painful.

The system is flawed but I also see why you were forced to change yours think you do too even though you're not admitting it

  5. After 10 years on xbox live you honestly thought you would get away with that tag??

You do not get a free tag any more due to those that abused the system, they deliberately kept choosing the same tag or even more offensive ones as a sign of protest.

Forcing you to pay each time makes people really think about what they are doing.

The guidelines are right there in the code of conduct when choosing your tag.

  6. Not exactly. The customer support specialist I spoke to (Tone) and the supervisor (Tarin) both specifically said that when a gamertag gets a forced change, it technically happens because it violates the code of conduct but the code of conduct is only applied
if someone reports the gamertag. Hence all the highly offensive names that never get changed. Not only that, the supervisor outright told me that someone reported my name and that's what led to the forced change.

Re-read my original post. I explained in there that I brought this up and Tarin's response was that I should report people too. You should also take a look at the code of conduct. The rules for gamertags are very vague and open to interpretation. This would
be fine if it were Microsoft filtering, finding and changing names. But that is not the case. A name only gets changed if someone else reports it to them. Otherwise, no matter how offensive it is (subjectively of course) someone can keep a gamertag in perpetuity
as long as they don't cross a vindictive sore loser.

I would say case closed. Common sense needs to be used when generating GT's. Regardless of spelling, it would be seen as offensive. What would make you want to change your GT to that.... just curious?

After 10 years on Xbox Live, YES I did think I could use the name based on all the other names that I've seen that are infinitely more offensive. Are you not reading my posts or do you work for Microsoft?

I would not have paid $9.99 to begin with to change it to something that I knew would get a forced change. Furthermore, I never asked for a free gamertag. I asked to be able to select one instead Microsoft changing it to the awful name you see now AFTER
already charging me $9.99 two weeks prior. It is a money grab. Don't try to redefine it as something else.

  9. kingvas78, what relevance is the reason for my selecting that name? Why does anyone select a gamertag? There are many reasons. Are you implying that there was malicious intent? FYI, it was a playful reference to an outdated retro term that I found funny
and figured others of my generation would too. Plain and simple.

And I agree: case closed. I'm taking my business elsewhere.

  10. So what you are saying is you thought choosing an offensive tag would be OK because other people did it too??

Phone support would not have the information that any individual reported you, that would only be known to enforcement.

Allowing you to select a new tag would be a free change.

If you had chosen a compliant tag, you wouldn`t be a "victim of a microsoft money grab"

The tag selection process does have filters, that doesn`t mean you can`t trick it.

Its the same as this forum, it has filter to stop bad words, but if you spell them wrong or add numbers its very easy to bypass.

  11. THEOWENKILLER:

Also, forcing people to pay again is not about making gamers think again. It's about increasing revenue. Don't shovel that nonsense on here. I'm old enough to know that's not true. How ironic that the supervisor I spoke to at customer support said the exact
same thing. And don't talk about guidelines when Microsoft doesn't enforce them uniformly and instead depends on gamers to do their job for them.

Most importantly, this is about customer service plain and simple. I pay monthly for Xbox Live gold, purchase games, more than one console and have never asked for a refund or had an issue in over 10 years. You would think Microsoft would have wanted to
keep a customer and not lose them over $9.99.

  12. I was not trying to trick the tag selection process. And phone support DID in fact tell me that. And I did not think I could pick an offensive tag because others had more offensive ones. As I said, I did not feel my name was unacceptable. But based on other
names I had seen that I figured must have been allowed, there was no way this one could not be. That's why I mentioned it.

I'm an adult and was not trying to pull something stupid. If I was aware in advance of the shoddy system in place, I would not have changed a gamertag that I had for almost 10 years or would have picked something else.

And again, this is about bad customer service.

Why are you even arguing ?.

I have seen boosters and cheaters for 10 yrs + , it doesn't make it " legal ".

You have just wasted money on a tag you knew would get reported .......tough.

  14. I actually think you are right in some way, people should not be charged for a new tag, instead the account should be banned.

Phone support are there to agree with you on almost anything, they are instructed to be polite and helpful no matter what.

Try asking a member of enforcement the same things, feel free to post on the suspension forum.

They haven`t lost a customer over $9.99 at all, after you have finished your rant you will still be with microsoft, i guarantee it.
