    I rarely take time to make posts like these, usually because the service is at least decent enough to let it go or because I know it will fall on deaf ears. And that may very well be the case here as well, but its beyond comical at this point so
    I will take a few minutes to write it out.


    My xbox one headset has stopped working after minimal use, as have several of my friends who purchased this console. I read forums all over the place about these headsets issues, and so I know its not just me. It must be a physical issue with the
    connection wires itself. Its not a controller issue--ive tested it on 6 different controllers. Its not a "Reset xbox issue". I have tested all the generic "troubleshooting 101" things that support tries to suggest--they dont work. When you connect the
    headset to the controller, its as if the wire does not fully connect, or apply pressure properly. I dont know. It works sparingly if i push it as hard as i can, or twist the wires in a certain direction, or just beat the crap out of the controller for 1
    minute. Otherwise its dead silent and is not even turned on. This controller worked fine for about 1 month and then crapped out. No big deal, right? My xbox is under warranty so i will get a replacment.


    I speak in xbox support chat and after going through all the details, i am asked for my address, account info, etc and am told i will be sent a box with shipping labels to send in my defective headset for a replacement. ANd I am assured this process
    will be "quick". Fair enough...I can get by with using the Kinect for a few weeks.


    2 weeks go by and i receive NOTHING. I finally go back into chat and am told that controllers and headsets need to be SELF-SHIPPED and paid by me, and that xbox only pays for shipping of xbox one consoles and kinects. LOL. So I am given an address
    to send my headset to on my own dime. Nevermind the fact that the initial chat agent told me NO SUCH ADDRESS and said they woudl send ME shipping materials.


    Now I am at a point where I ask the question... is it even worth it? THe headset alone is probably 10-15 bucks on amazon maybe? Shipping is probably a good 10 bucks? Is this the business model? Force people to decide whether to self-ship a defective
    item at almost the same cost as just buying a new one? Absolute joke. Id like to test out a real headset, like that xbox one stereo headset, or some kind of turtle beach, etc... but if theyre all made the same way in terms of how they connect, whos to say
    they wont work either? I wish XB1 had a wireless headset that didnt suck.


    TL;DR version: XB1 headsets are bad. You have to pay out of pocket to get defective headset replaced, not to mention wait several weeks for the entire process to go through.

    Headset DOA, customer support, no help.

    The only option given to me is the "Self-Shipping" option. In this case I would need to pay approximately $10.00 to ship the headset to them and wait a minimum of 10 business days + however long it takes for them to receive the original headset from me.

    I called support again last night, and was given the run around again.

    I have to sent a console from the Netherlands to the European Repair Centre in the Tjech Republic. A have recieved intructions by e-mail but no barcode or anything. Do I have to pay for the shippings costs myself? In that caseI can better buy a new console!?

    I can't speak to your experiences about replacing the headset but I did buy the Xbox one stereo headset that comes with the stereo adapter. It dropped $30 and works a lot better.

    I do have concerns with the wiring they decided on as it's similar to the default headset but maybe sale your headset on eBay (for parts) and try another headset of your choosing.

    Just search Xbox One Headset Adapter. IF you cannot find any links I can send you the one I bought. (only one left currently). But also be aware that many require you to send your headset to them for modification. Only a few have them ready to ship. Of course,
    ready to ship ones cost more.

    Having a similar issue with my brick, and it's getting really hot as well. the only fix is to have them ship a new system?
