A good addition to the community?

Hello there! Ever since I can remember, my parents have allowed me to play violent video games like COD and Fallout. I'm currently 11 years old (almost 12!), and I play Call of Duty multiplayer and campaigns whenever I can. While I am not very good at it,
games like Advanced Warfare kill some time and are fun. However, games like Skyrim and Fallout immerse me in their crazy good story. I often come across people saying that kids under 18 should not be able to play games that are meant for people over 18. After
this I found something even more shocking, they say it doesn't matter the maturity of the child. My parents are very well versed in the video game world, my Mom plays platformers and my Dad plays FPS like myself. The one game they have ever rejected was GTA
V, I would guess this being due to the sexual content and strip clubs. I get grades above average, and have an IQ (intelligence quotient) of 131. I know it sounds like I'm lying about this, even my age (those typing skills doe)! But I'm really not. Now, my
real Xbox One Gold account is not on this account, so good luck reporting me for an underaged player on a 18+ game. But the real question to you is, do you think I should be aloud to play 18+ games? However keep in mind, your negative responses against me
playing video games will never change anything. Please, add your input to comments of my post.

I think Catwoman would make a good addition to the game.

The ability to hide demo and trials I find was a good addition.

 

Definitely not, you should play games intended for your age group.

Games like call of duty have been ruined for older gamers because of parents allowing their kids to play it online.

In regards to your IQ, It makes no difference how smart you think you are, intelligence does not effect age ratings.

I would double check that IQ score though.

At least he can spell. Hey kid...congrats on being a good speller. Most adults can't even spell the most basic of words in our language. Stay in school. Since you're obviously not going to stop gaming, why even ask us our opinion? Personally, I don't
think that a child's brain should be exposed so early to the bloody images that are in most M rated video games. I think it can have a detrimental effect over time. Hopefully your parents put a time limit on your gaming. I know too many kids that play
every minute of their free time. I can't help but to wonder what it's doing to their health, both mentally and physically.

 

Bizarro, the reason I asked this question is because I wanted to see what the community would think of me playing the games that I do. I agree with your last point, I spend most of my time playing soccer, jumping on the trampoline, and swimming. But think
about it, put yourself in the mindset of an 11 year old boy. Would your opinion be the same? In regards to OwenKiller, I just double checked m8, IQ is definitely 131. I was tested at the age of 8. Thank you for the replies everyone.

 

I was never "allowed" to play adult games when i was your age.

I have a nephew your age, i will not allow him to play my adult games.

It sounds like your parents have some sense stopping you playing GTA, but they should also consider all 18 rated games too.

 

By the way OwenKiller, my parents do not allow me to use a mic when I am playing COD in multiplayer. I don't want to ruin it for other players, and I do not want to be harassed due to my age. Another reason my parents did not want me playing GTA V is because
of the drug use.

 

I imagine its every aspect of GTA they don`t want you to play, and good on them.

It's good that you are getting some outdoor time. I was raised on a ranch in the middle of nowhere, so I was outside most my childhood. Well you seem mature for your age, so if you know the difference between fantasy and reality, and your parents are okay
with it, then play on.

 

It's not illegal or against the rules for an under 18 to play an 18 rated game,it's just illegal for an under 18 to buy them or for someone to buy an 18 game for an under 18 & shops to sell them to an under 18.

At the end of the day it's down to the parents wether a child can play these games or not,personally I will never let my nephew play an 18 rated game until he's old enough.

Hmmm. I wonder....
