A game free to download but states otherwise

A couple days ago Fallout 76 I noticed was free with Dayz. So I downloaded both, And told my nephews to get it too, one of them did, and same thing. We all have gold, and it allowed us to download it, but for me it takes a day or two to download it, today
i boot it up and says i need gold or a disk. I have gold so why can't I play.. please help us. Like to play with the nephews. Dayz worked by the way (downloaded first as too it was smaller size)

Starting on Dec. 12, people who don't own Fallout 76 will be able to
play the game for free until Dec. 16. Free weekend play ended.

Unfortunately it was just a free to play weekend event, you can grab jurassic park for free though!!

As someone else has already stated: they were part of a ‘free weekend’ period.

These weekends are great to try new games but in my opinion sometimes they are not advertised well: meaning thst sometimes I have downloaded too a game thinking it was free while it was just a weekend free period
