A game disc I bought recently from Gamestop very briefly spins when ejected...

I recently bought Dead or Alive: Xtreme 2 a few days ago and decided to try it out today. So I popped it in there, plays fine thankfully. But when I go back to the dashboard and wait a few seconds to a minute, I go ahead and press the eject button. But here's
the thing... thus far, DoA: Xtreme 2 is the only disc-based game in my collection where, as the disc tray opens, will spin for a very brief second and then stops so I can take it out.

I do not know if that's normal for a 10+ year old X360 game (oldest game I have is Perfect Dark Zero, and it's never done that when ejected), but then again I don't know. I did my homework, turns out that DoA: Xtreme 2 is one of a few games that can't be
installed onto the HDD. And the game itself, I noticed has a few scratches on it, so I'm guessing that could be a factor too, though I did try to clean it with a soft cloth before I played it.

And to make sure that not all my disc-based games didn't do that, I put in another game I bought around the same time -- Golden Axe: Beast Rider, which thankfully didn't briefly spin when I ejected it, so that's good in my opinion.

I have a 5-year old Xbox360 slim, which is what I use to play my games, and nearly all my disc-based games are installed except for DoA: Xtreme 2, the Bejeweled 3 disc-bundle that comes with Zuma's Revenge and Feeding Frenzy 2, and the old XBLA game-disc
that came with Sega Superstars Tennis.

And since DoA: Xtreme 2 is a special case in terms of a 10-year old game that can't be installed to a HDD, I'm wondering if what happened's even normal for the game, or is this even something that I should be worried about. Thanks in advance for anyone who

Discs still reading after install? Downloads in the background when off? (not in standby)

When you installed a game on the 360, the disc would spin briefly to initialize the install. Once that happened, the disc would stop spinning. Not sure how the ONE works but I would ASSUME it is the same way.

 

Spinning Disc Constantly!!!

So just recently my discs have been ejected while still "spinning."

I decided to start dashboarding first, then ejecting my disc.. nope still spinning.

So now I have sat in dashboard for the last 20-30 minutes since playing, probably longer.. and when I hit eject the disc was still spinning!

This is certainly not good for my games... did I mention these games are also installed and shouldn't spin beyond startup in the first place?

Please help!

 

I've had the same issue with my Xbox 360 for years now. Most likely your disc drive is just wearing out. I have to keep ejecting my discs and just keep trying it over and over until it works. And it doesnt do it with every game, just random ones. Sometimes
setting your console on its side or setting it upright will help too.

There are videos on YouTube about how to take your Xbox 360 apart safely and clean any dust out and that may help. But I've personally never done it

 

I see. Then I guess I can safely assume that what's going on is normal wear and tear then. I did used to have it placed vertically for 2 to 3 years out of 5 until I heard that that causes scratches on discs. And also that my 1P light eventually switched
to 2p light at times. Hadn't happened again since I placed it vertically on a regular basis for a year now.

When this happened yesterday, my slim was still in horizontal position. So I guess all this is a small price to pay for playing a very old and uninstallable game (if that is a word). And playing for five years I guess.

By the way, I thought opening a 360 voids its warranty. One reason why I never did it either. If it is dust also, is there another way to clean it without opening it besides wiping the slim with a soft cloth?

 

Well, making sure that I wipe the outside occasionally. I mean.

 

Yeah it does void the warranty but for most people it expired years ago anyway. You could try blowing air into it but I wouldn't suggest that either.

 

I'm sorry for the late response but I see what you mean. Thanks for your help thus fat on this matter. Guess I will consider this as wear and tear in this case.
