First off I'm not judging anyone, what MA7ILDA decides to do is totally up to them but ...

If it was me, I'd contact Microsoft, ok it looks like a mistake on their part but do you really want to risk "possible" future issues because of one game?

Like Az mentioned, chances are Microsoft will be more interested to know how this has happened rather than taking anything off of you and being very honest, knowing what some people are like, Microsoft are probably now aware if you get my meaning, at least
by contacting them yourself it won't look bad from your side, again though that's what I would personally do.

Surely best case scernario is he gets to keep the game and MS simply dont care?

 

This thread made me realise that people are way more generous then I am. If I found tenner on the floor I would take it to the owner to tell them 'finders keepers' lol!!

joking aside, I would call MS and just make them aware of it. They wont debit you or take it off your account, I once got a spanking free game when I downloaded a demo, I wasn't supposed to get the full game but I got it. They thanked me for letting them
know and passed the technical info over to the techy people for them to make sure it couldn't be reproduced. I got to keep the game

If you walk into a shop and they have labelled an item up wrong they have to sell it to you at that price so it works the same here they will not charge you for it and doubt they will take it off you.

Like the others have said they will probably thank you for bringing it to there attention and let you keep it. The worse thing they can do is take it off you but if you dont tell them you will lose it anyway and possiby face some sort of punishment.

 

I don't feel as though I'm being judged and Az n Alice are entitled to their opinions.

At about 10.30 this morning curiosity got the better of me and I had an online chat with Jann. For the record, it was curiosity not guilt or anything like that because I know I've done nothing wrong. Maybe I have been a little underhand in not contacting
M$ earlier, but corner shops always have a sign saying 'check your change before leaving as mistakes cannot be rectified afterwards'. Well this is M$'s fault and I should suffer no consequences regardless!

Anyway, I explained the situation to Jann like I have done on here and s/he asked me question such as Does anyone else have my login details, do I have any other accounts on my console, did I redeem a code, do I have a special edition console etc? My answers
were no to the questions and Jann found it most peculiar too especially when I explained about the 3 other G4G games downloading themselves. Jann said my account/GT will be monitored for the next 48 hours to see if there is any suspicious goings on and I will
be contacted afterwards. I asked if I could play the game if I so wished and Janns reply was 'of course you can!'

Obviously M$ are going to take an interest in this but I somehow think they have bigger fish to fry, one being the scum on ebay who download games then sell bundles of 2 new released games for £50 but have to give account sign in details.

I've been a member of the forum for a few years now and most regulars know that. It'd be a bit stupid to lose my gamertag and gamerscore (which is just numbers) by bringing attention to myself if I was up to no good!!!

For the record, I don't believe for a second you were up to no good, I 100% believe this is an error/mistake at Microsoft's end.

I think you've done right though, again this wasn't your fault but you can bet your life one or two that have read this thread have reported you out of jealousy/spite so at least now you can rest easy knowing you've reported it and will not have any future
issues with your account etc ..

As for the people that have judged you, I'd say the one's that say ... "If I found a £10 note on the floor I would hand it in" .... 9/10 it would be straight in their pocket, they won't admit it though

Keep us updated though, I'd be interested to find out exactly what happened here and enjoy the game!

 

Lofty, you don't come across a judgemental guy and I didn't think for a second you thought I'd been up to no good. That goes for everyone bar 2 and those 2 are Az and Alice, but they are entitled to their opinions. Az is a self-opinionated, glorified troll.
Alice takes the moral high ground because of those icons but is a little bit bitter and twisted, maybe wasn't shown enough love as a child.

The opinion of a 37 year old father of 3 who doesn't know the difference between right and wrong! ;-)

No they don't, that is one of the biggest shopping myths around.

 

Vaynel is correct, when you buy something you simply make an offer to the seller (if its goods on a window or on a shelf etc) they can then refuse or accept that offer, If its an ad in a newspaper thats different.

Enjoy the game Matilda, if you want someone to play co-op with add me got a couple of mates who play every now and again.

 

As a courtesy they may try to honour the price but sometimes if the discrepancy is too large all they can do is apologise for making a mistake.
