A complaint on account suspensions

Recently my account has been had a 24 hour suspension placed on it due to my "past behavior". I am hoping to get support to get the enforcement side of xbox to realize that the way players are punished is not a viable.

My suspension

I happen to play a game where a particular character is unfavored by other players, therefore giving me negative attention. My message log (which I would absolutely love an xbox rep to look at and then see that I am the individual that was suspended) contains
a long, long list of just trash talk from other players. In this log of messages NOT ONCE have I gotten upset and harassed another player; I am always the one spoken to first. Now, because I am human and nobody really loves being taunted over and over again,
I do retaliate at times. I barely play games now but use to back in the day and I would guesstimate 90% of the multiplayer community would also retaliate, however, lately, I have been thrown into competitive games with groups on my team, and since they don't
take well to my play style and character -- which is not a violation to the code of conduct -- I am "reported", or receive messages telling me that the player and his brother and mother and dad and all friends are going to report me. Due to the lack of a better
word, and I hate how childish this sounds, this is bullying: something I imagine this enforcement team is suppose to help. Now, the kicker here is that after being confronted, and having players tell me how they really feel about me and my character, (taking time,
again, to message me FIRST) I seem to be the one communication banned -- I imagine due to profanity. I don't agree that my lack of patience to be smack talked should result in me having my communication cut from the game, and I don't agree that the second
person to swing is the one at fault, while the real issue probably wasn't looked into. TLDR version -- Playing competitive games where you win by a play style deemed unfit by the opposing team, or playing in a manner in which your team does not approve leads
to angry players reporting you, which seems to get your account looked into, which then gets your privileges taken from your account if you weren't a complete peach to the individuals who tell you to go hang yourself: seems fair enough.

I don't necessarily care about my ban, but I don't go to work to buy games and time to be harassed and then punished by the organization who should be protecting players who fall victim to this kind of stuff. The part that upsets me the most is that I firmly
believe if anyone plays a game, and other individuals seem to become upset with you, or you upset any groups of players, all of us have the potential to just be banned on the spot. If the enforcement team really looked reviewed the reports -- or however the
procedure is done -- they would have seen that I am playing the game as it was intended to be played, have messages from players telling me they are reporting me for not a single reason in the xbox code, and only violating language policy after being verbally
assaulted.

My personal opinion of the enforcement team xbox has in place is that they are helping no one but gamers who have gotten angry, and these complaints can come from individuals who have a accurately reported an abusive person, or individuals who fall victim
to players abusing the tool. I believe something needs to be changed here and this method is not an accurate way to solve abuse.

Ban for playing online

The two suspensions are not likely related. All complaints are investigated before being acted on. It is likely that you received the comm ban from one complaint, then received the account suspension for a completely different complaint. It takes time for
the enforcement team to be certain that a complaint is correct.

 

Offensive gamertag and harassment

The enforcement team doesn't actually post on the forums (except in the suspensions forums to tell people why they are suspended) or take complaints via the forums. You would need to have someone file a complaint on your account via the console and the enforcement
team will investigate that complaint.

 

The enforcement team do not read the forums.

Doesn't matter who sends the first message,if you retaliate with a message that violates the code of conduct & are reported then you will be suspended.

The rules are the same for everyone.

Best solution is not to respond,just report anyone sending you abusive messages & block them.You could also set communications to friends only so only people on your friends list can message you.

 

The number of times you're reported does not matter. The enforcement team investigates each complaint. So you can be reported a million times, but they will not take action unless you've actually done something to violate the code of conduct.

 

Prior to the enforcement site, the enforcement team did use the forums, but they no longer do. Over the years they did make several things known about how they work. These are community forums so Daft and I are just fellow gamers like yourself.

Even if the other members were not suspended at the same time you were, they may have already been suspended before or after your suspension. There's no way to know exactly when/if they would have had any action taken against them.

 

Another thing to consider is that these people may have been suspended at the same time as you & started sending messages again once their suspension was over.

Some people don't learn which means they'll end up getting suspended again for longer & eventually banned if they carry on.

Like I said,report & block,don't respond & they will be investigated.

 

Your right,you shouldn't have to mute half the people you play with but unfortunately there are a lot of idiots about & certain games seem to attract more idiots than others.

People can be suspended for abusing the report feature so if that's also what they are doing then it ill be dealt with.
