"A" BUTTON NOT WORKING ON HOME SCREEN

MANY HAVE THIS ISSUE I HAVE HAD IT BEFORE AND IT FIXED ITSELF BUT NOW IT HAS BEEN LIKE IT ALL DAY AND IS NOTHING IS WORKING AT ALL.
When starting the console every controller button works but "A", the one need to launch games and apps.

The controller and console clearly display acknowledgement of the button press with an animation of the button but it has no actual effect.

Problems with "A" button

When I press the "A" button on the home page, it doesn't do anything. It blinks on the tiles but doesn't select it. I've tried power cycling the console, unplugging it and unfortunately my system is out of warranty. What are my options as my Xbox one can't
be used. I can't select any games.

Skype and Youtube has no "go back" button?

Press and hold the menu button when on the home screen (with the game/app selected). It pops up a context menu to allow you to close the game/app.

If you haven't already, try a hard reset. Hold the Xbox logo on the front of the console until it turns off, then try again. If that doesn't help, do the same, but unplug the power cord from the back for 5 minutes.

Clear cache - Press & hold power button on your Xbox for 10 seconds. Console will be shutdown and cache will be cleared.

I am having the same problem and have done almost the same thing. For the past 3 and a half hours I've been trying to update everything, looking at forums, Youtube videos, and all over the internet seeing people having the problem and someone saying do this
and do that but nothing has helped so far. I would really like to fix it so I can continue using my system without pressing A 100 times just to sign in and then play a game.

I'm sorry to hear about the issue. If the issue is persisting, I recommend trying a

factory reset of your console. If that doesn't help, you'll want to post a new thread of your own detailing your issues so the community can best assist. This thread is a couple months old and reviving old threads is generally not good forum etiquette.

I have the same problem my Xbox S controller will not let me sign in when I press home button, can sign in via iPhone and laptop but not remote.

Try a hard reset by holding down the power button on front of console for 5 seconds or so or until it shuts off. You could have to many apps open in memory and just needs a clear out.
