"A" Button is not working in the dashboard anymore

When I start up the xbox the controler works fine. When I select an app e.g. Netflix the console reacts I can see the app "blink" for a short time but the app gets not started. All other buttons work as expected. When I than start with voice command I can
use the controller without problems inside the app / game.

Any idea what this could be?

on a side note why the hell aren't pictures working anymore...for me atleast.

 

The gamepad is not working the button "up"

 

Not sure what the issue may be. Can you try holding the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down to see if the issue persists?

 

I tried that unfortunately not working - even having it completely taken away from power for a day has not changed anyhting. It's really strange.

 

have you tried a hard reset on the controller? you just take out the batteries, then hold down the power button on the controller for 30 seconds. Put the batteries back in, and then check it out. If it still isn't working after this, you might just need
to send in your controller for a repair. You can do this 1 of 2 ways.

1) go to myservice.xbox.com and set up a repair.

2) Call 1-800-4MyXbox and set up a repair with an agent.

Because it is an accessory, you will have to pay for the shipping and box it up.
