"A" button does not work in dashboard, but works in games.

Hi, I've been having issues and searched the web and found that I'm not alone. I have already contacted Xbox support on the issue, but they said I should restore my xbox to original and download everything. I don't want to spend hours on it if that doesn't
fix the issue. While I'm in dashboard, my controller is connected and all buttons work, except "A". The tiles flicker as if it recognizes that I'm pushing it, but it wont open the app. When I hit the big "X", I will get the menu to power off console or
controller, but being the A doesn't work, I can't do anything but shut the console off by hard reset. Hard reset and unplugging the console does not help. Keep in mind, it does this with both my controllers and one off them is only a few months old, but
the "A" buttons work while playing a game. I had used the Smart glass app to start the game, and the "A" button works fine. I have searched the web and found other people with the same issue. Also, both controllers have been updated.

I am having the exact same issue only on the main menu. Please post anyone who has found a solution.

I updated the driver as I did that I noticed there was something pressing down on the keyboard I unplugged that and now its working fine again. So I'm guessing it was either the update that I needed or the keyboard interrupting the input from the controller.

 

I just started having this problem a couple days ago and its very very annoying. Ive been forced to use the Xbox app whenever I have to selected anything on the dashboard. This is after buying this controller after my previous controller had the left stick
drift problem. If anyone has/can find a fix please let me know...I dont want to waste yet another $60 on a *** controller...

pushing the button hard or keep the button pushed helps sometimes.

But yeah annoying!!

No controller issue, is a Software Problem!!

Sorry to hear about the button issue! I recommend trying a few troubleshooting steps if you haven't already, just to make sure that we have covered everything:

• First, make sure that your controllers have been updated .
  
• Once you have made sure that you controllers have been updated, remove the batteries from your controller and replace them with fresh batteries.
  
• Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
• Once your console has powered off, unplug the power cord.
• Wait a few minutes and then plug in your console.
• Power on your console and check to see if the issue is continuing to occur

ive just got this problem today for 3 and a half hours i have been on the forums and i even had xbox call me i was told that i should down load software on to a dongle and upload the software on to my xbox myself . i bought this system to play games im
not techy savvy this is microsofts mistake it should be them fixing it . I remember when they released a update for the blue ray player and it had a problem were all of a sudden you couldnt play games in the disk drive but you could play dvds blueray etc and
their i was on the forum and they were asking me to send it to them and trying to charge me for their dodgy update . luckily i had only had the xbox 2-3 months and was covered by the shop i got it from so they swapped it for me . their are a ton of games
coming out and i have a ps4 as well as a xbox one i was planning on getting most off them on my xbone as my mate is finally getting his xbox one after all this time so we can game together like we used to on our 360s . but their are people on here that have
had this problem since august and microsoft has not even fixed it and the people on the forums dont even no wot it is . disgusting! looks like il be getting most of them games for ps4 i dont fancy playing test your might on the dash board evry time i want
to play a game or use a app on my xbox one .
