  1. A better FIX, than buying a Playstation 4?

So Yeah... this is what is wrong.

I turn my xbox on. Says I can't connect to xbox live and in my NAT says I am connected with no issues and have an OPEN NAT. I decide to do a power shut down cycle. Xbox one comes back on and now I am connected to Xbox Live and I now have a STRICT NAT. So I
do another power shut down cycle. After doing so, I am connected to Xbox Live and I have an OPEN NAT. YAY! I go into a Co-Op game, doesn't matter which and I am unable to play Co-Op and party chat with anyone.

    Is Playstation 4 better?

    :)

  5. Greetings,

To address the emotional reaction… they are both the same. As in Xbox one and Playstation 4 are both consoles with great features and serious flows…

Now that we have that established, let’s see if we can address the technical issue at hand.

Have you restarted your internet connection before doing the testing?

Could you please provide the brand and model of your modem/router?

What kind of connection (ADSL/fibre, wireless) are you using?

Are you using VoIP (voice over IP) telephony at your location?

My router device is SonicWall, it has a feature called IP helper, once IP helper is turned on it helps process and direct traffic accordingly.

Without IP Helper SonicWall will always present STRICT NAT, with IP Helper it learns to make it MODERATE, but that is just it, it needs few minutes to learn which ports need to be open and which ports need to be translated,

Furthermore, some devices may block excessive external traffic to a specific port and interpret it as DDOS attack or the like.

Hence my question about your network equipment.

The type of your connection and your ISP may also play a role as some ISPs like to limit certain type of traffic, which could effect Xbox traffic,

Finally, use of VOIP devices may result with specific, consistent NAT process that may or may not interfere with Xbox,

While you answer my questions above let me suggest the following:

Shutdown (at the power point) your Xbox for at least 10 minutes,

Restart your internet connection (same deal, shutdown at the power point for at least 10 minutes),

Connect, via cable if possible, your Xbox to your router and ensure that it is the only device connected,

Test the results and share for further help A better FIX, than buying a Playstation 4? :)

    Kind Regards

    Daniel

I have both and the answer to your question is yes. While I use my Xbox more than my PS4, because I bought two of them solely for the convenience of voice control for watching videos and such, the PS4 gives me a smooth user experience anytime I use it. The
xbox, 9 out of 10 times, gives me some kind of issue. The latest is that the friggin' remotes no longer work on the home screen after the "update." They work on every other screen. I have not done a hard reboot yet, because, well, quite frankly I'm pretty
*** tired of doing a hard reboot to fix the problems Microsoft creates. Is it a big deal? No. It's the principle. But if you're not attached to the thing too much and can live without the more extensive voice control, and don't care about Halo, yeah, I've
been happier with the PS4. Oh, even streaming services suck on xbox1. For the past month not only does Vudu kick me out when I try and start watching a movie, but often times, about half way through, I'll get a scrambled picture - you know, the kind of picture
you used to get when your cable was acting up. Nothing like that every happens on the PS4. And the app layouts? Good god. Browsing your movie collection on Vudu on the XB1 is painful if you have more than 5 movies. Get over 100 and it's downright aggravating.
    PS4 not so.

Beer Delivery, can I ask, do you have all of your ports forwarded? If not, the NAT will be hit-and-miss like you described. Also, do you have more than one Xbox hooked up to the same network? As in, two Xbox Ones or an X1 and a 360? If so, the consoles tend
to compete for the same ports, unless you turn on something called UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) on your router.

  9. To start off. I love how other companies always blame something else and try not to take the blame for what is really wrong. Nothing is wrong with my equipment. I have certain consoles on the network for gaming, such as, 2 PC's, 2 Xbox 360's, PS3 and the
online gaming/chatting work great. I have 2 Xbox one's and neither work good for online gaming/chatting. So lets see, is something wrong with my equipment. Answer is no... its the Xbox Ones.

So for the equipment I have, Motorola 3.0 Cable Modem with Comcast Cable internet. D-Link DIR655 Router. CAT-6 for wired network. Also have a D-Link signal booster. I have 1 Xbox One Day One Edition down stairs hard wired into the network. I have 1 Xbox
One Assassin's Creed Bundle upstairs wireless into the network. I have gone into my settings of my router and made several changes to get an open network for all Xbox Consoles. I have gotten my information from D-Link forum. Using my QOS Engine Rules, I have
made several points open. I have the Remote Port Range from 0 - 65535 for all 4 consoles. I have open NAT on my 360's but not on the x1's. After figuring more stuff out, I do happen to have OPEN NAT on both x1's, but we can't play together on any games and
we can not party chat together while in game, or just on console. Yelling up and down stairs isn't suppose to be when you buy an expensive gaming console. UPnP is checked.

This is link is how I have it set up

    forums.dlink.com/index.php

I just don't know why I have to shut down, unplug, wait, replug, turn on, just to play a game with others and then it doesn't work.

Thanks ArkhamKnight, but I've been an Xbox owner since the first one and an Xbox live customer for going on 10 years. I've wasted enough of my time attempting to get help for problems associated with Xbox's and always to no avail (whether forums or customer
service). But BeerDelivery asked a specific question which I was answering. Or are you suggesting that making a new thread about how the Vudu layout is terrible is going to help somehow? It never did on the last Xbox. Or perhaps posting on a thread about how
my Kinect no longer works will get me some satisfaction along with the hundreds or thousands of other people who also had to suck it up when their Kinects stopped working (and had the thread locked - nice)? The answer is ALWAYS hard reboot so I'm not sure
the point of posting any issues. When the issue arises we "hard reboot." This generally fixes the problem - except the problem of having to hard reboot!!

  11. Specific to the NXOE experience.

What I found....is that my NAT also changed from OPEN to strict with no changes on my end (during the preview but this also seems to randomly happen in general every few months or so)

Days and attempts went by and no changes or attempts fixed the problems.

*I was able to resolve this by going into my router....AND going into the network setting on my xbox one.

-I am not using DMZ but instead port forwarding.

-I had to manually change the local IP address under each port forwarding entry on my router.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-If you're using DMZ...don't do this

The big issues is that instead of being under 192.168.0.4 something caused it to move to 192.168.0.10

*After this, I turned off UPnP.....restarted my router...and then went to turn it back on.

Restarted the console and its now OPEN and stays OPEN

A better FIX, than buying a Playstation 4?

While you answer my questions above let me suggest the following:

Shutdown (at the power point) your Xbox for at least 10 minutes,

Connect, via cable if possible, your Xbox to your router and ensure that it is the only device connected,

Test the results and share for further help :)
