90% of my games don't work...oh, my! Lol.

Some will find this amusing, some will find it a betrayal by Microsoft, some will say, "Meh!", and probably most won't care...

I've been gone for the last 4 days and shut my modem off before leaving. Upon arriving home, had the notion to see if the X1 really does work offline. Played around here and there just hitting the "Go Offline" to see what happens (T.V. tuner stops working
after 24 to 48 hours.), but never really for extended periods.

Powered up the X Box before turning the modem back on, hit "Go Offline", then signed in locally. Turned the modem back on, payed a few bills, checked the forums, etc..

Here is some of my "findings"...

1. Blu-ray player, Fallout 3, Max:Curse Of Brotherhood, HEXIC HD, Halo:MCC, Killer Instinct, and Fallout 4 work. All are digital except for Fallout 4.

2. Peggle, Frogger, Killer Instinct Classic, Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and Minecraft, do not. All are digital.

The interesting thing (At least to me. Ha,Ha.) is I own all the Borderlands games digitally AND on disc and they will not play either way. Minecraft which I paid for doesn't work while Max:Curse Of Brotherhood does, and that was a Games With Gold.

Now there is a few more games that work, such as Tomb Raider (Own both digitally and disc.), though there is way more that don't. There doesn't seem to any pattern, such as Games With Gold versus paid that one would think; I own most of my 47 games that
are installed.

I plan on leaving that particular X Box offline for the next week to see if more games stop working, Bu-ray player stops functioning, etc..

Probably have too much time on hands this month, but depending on what I find out...may have to rethink buying that nuclear sub and bringing my X Box with me. ;-)

Another problem with having the X Box offline? Went to play some Fallout the other day and the X Box was not not showing up on my T.V.; no signal. Powered off and on...nothing. Powered the T.V. off and on...nothing. Unplugged everything and waited five minutes
before hooking it all back up...success.

I'm gone again for the next four days, though will go back online with that console upon returning home; as it appears nothing has changed since first going offline.

My conclusion...the X Box is pretty sad offline. Lol.

 

i had mine offline for 2 weeks whilst i moved house and all of the digi games i tried worked :/

I didnt try the blu ray player though but would of assumed this would work too. interesting stuff!

 

@iBakez...What I found most interesting is the Borderlands series. I bought them all digital, and own them all on disc, and wouldn't play either way. Maybe bought them digitally on the other console or possibly on my girlfriends console, so could see that
not working; but the discs? Lol.

Been offline for days playing before, when just don't feel like being bothered, and don't remember paid games not working. Thought I'd try this little experiment because my older brother was over from California and didn't have a lot of time to game anyway.
Time to get back online.

I hope you get sorted out soon. Are you running your games on your internal console HDD or external HDD. Have you tried other external HDD's? Are you in this Preview Program thingy? If you are, opt out. No good running like Beta dashboard versions on your
console.

On Tuesday this week, I experienced an issue with my Xbox 1 Day One Edition console with Kinect, too! It runs the latest dashboard OS, I'm not in the preview programme thingy, and my Kinect wouldn't turned on. I tried checking my Kinect, console, connections.
After force shutting down my console 5 TIMES, my console finally picked up the Kinect. I was worried I would need to spend $$$ on repair or new Kinect or getting a Kinect adaptor something you'd use if you have an Xbox 1 S which does not have a Kinect port.
But no, it must have been dodgy software.

Question to everyone: How exactly under settings, do I DISABLE Instant On? When I shutdown my console under Dashboard controls, I want it to shutdown completely, not go into some secretly on mode. Instant On is useful especially when downloading games in
the background, but it can be a hassle when you need to really shutdown your console via Force Shutdown (aka hold power button on console for 7 seconds, or turn off power at wall).

To answer your question you disable instant on in the setting startup menu.
