My poor son is heartbroken because one person must have entered a bad comment about him. So now his reputation is in the avoid me status. When i go into his xbox reputation it says he's a "good player". But when I go to his profile, it say reputation avoid
    me.

It's all so confusing, but how do you explain it to a 9 year old who can play online with his friends because of something like this?

I went into the reputation history and there's nothing there, so I can't do a case review.

    Can somebody please help us?

    Thank You

    :)

The more hours you play fairly online without being reported as abusive by other players, the better your reputation will be. The algorithm looks to identify players that are repeatedly disruptive across the community on Xbox Live.

If you do not heed warnings and continue to have a negative impact on other players and the Xbox Live community, you will begin to experience penalties. For example, people with an “Avoid Me” rating will have reduced matchmaking pairings and may be unable
to use certain privileges such as Twitch broadcasting.

Remember, the algorithm was designed so it won’t penalize you for bad reports over a few weeks of play. The system also adjusts for false reports from people that might intentionally report someone of greater skill or for other griefing purposes.

My suggestion is for your son to be a better sport in the days that follow and enjoy gaming for gaming sake, as a way to share with other players an experience and not as hostile competition.

Visit the Xbox Live Policy and Enforcement page for more details on the Xbox One reputation system.

  5. That's the problem. He plays fairly, doesn't swear or anything offensive. In the reputation site, it has 1 comment about "voice".

    It just doesn't make sense.

Regarding voice and communication there is a very good suggestion in the enforcement page you might follow:

Reduce unwanted background noise and audio feedback.

Many players find background noise distracting and feel it disrupts the gaming experience. If your headset or Kinect microphone regularly picks up background noise (such as music, fans or air conditioning units, barking dogs, background conversations, etc.)
other players may not have a positive reaction. To ensure other players have a pleasant experience, consider finding ways to reduce background noise or mute your microphone when not talking.

  7. He only plays with his friends.

I still don't understand how 1 comment (which I don't think is valid) can put him in the "avoid me" category. Seems to me like something is wrong with the reputation system.

Come to think of it, there is no comment just a red bar for "voice" and a 1 after it.

And there there doesn't seem to be a way to argue his case because there isn't an orange hammer on the reputation site.

A change in an account’s reputation score is not considered an enforcement action and is not indicative of a suspension; it’s possible to have a low reputation score without violating the Microsoft Services Agreement or Code of Conduct. Instead, reputation
reflects how the Xbox Live community views a player’s behavior over time. The reputation system emphasizes a player’s sportsmanship and overall attitude and is intended to help ensure a level playing field for all Xbox Live members.

The reputation system is designed to be resilient and to prevent abuse from other players. There are a number of protections put in place to ensure that other users are not unfairly affecting your reputation score. Reputation takes into account a wide range
of data points, of which community feedback is only one component. However, in order to ensure the security and integrity of the reputation system and Xbox Live, we cannot divulge specific reputation protections.

Let me make a guess here, he plays HALO 5. (we will see if I am correct there) Anyway, now that he is in the avoid me range, there are a few things he can do to start to see his rep improve. First, he should try to play the co-op campaign of most any game,
with friends. Going into VS matches will not work unless everybody has the exact same rep. Next, if he has Battlefield Hardline, he should be able to find online games there, it does have an M rating so I have no idea if he is allowed to play that type of
game. Then, go to the forum of the games he does play, make a post asking if there are any others in the avoid me rep zone. If he finds some, set up a time when they can all play together. That will help all of them. He has to play multiplayer games without
getting reported to raise his rep. I can not tell you exactly how many games, or how much time it will take to start to see a raise, but eventually it will go back up.

  11. Hi there. Just inform him to play fairly and respect others he's playing with or against. His Rep will improve over time if he follows these suggestions. There isn't much more we here can do to help; it's down to your son.

Treat others how you wish to be treated.

    Happy gaming and good luck!

It's a bad system , it's an unnecessary system....if you hear something you don't like , simply mute the player....if people agree someone is playing bad or unfairly , the lobby can vote to kick.......NOBODY who pays for Xbox live and hasn't violated the
TOS or the COC. Should not be penalized on matchmaking. ...

  15. Hey, guys! This thread is a bit old, and there is nothing we can do here on the support forums for your reputation. You will want to follow the instructions on the
Enforcement site's How To to improve your rep. If you need assistance with any other support issue, please post up a new detailed thread so that our community can work on helping you out. Thanks
    for understanding!
