8 Months in, and still no Voice Messages.

its simple maths that out of 5 million + users 5k of votes isn't amazing, I make the numbers look as good as I want to.

 

True there are millions of members on Xbox Live. But not all of them hang out on the xbox.com forums or the official feedback site. Just because they haven't submitted a vote doesn't mean it's a no I don't agree with the idea/feedback. I'm sure 1.3 thousand
and over 3 thousand votes will get M's attention. And I'm sure "next gen" peps want more ways to message on Xbox Live than just morse code I'll put it (aka txt). Voice messaging IS a used Xbox Live feature on Xbox 360 and since Xbox 1 is an Xbox console, and
since over 3,000 members are for it, you get the picture.

 

Ya know, I do not really care for the feedback site either. The OG Xbox did not need it, nor did the Xbox 360. In my opinion this is damage control for E3 2013 Backlash to show that they do care. The lack of certain features is not due to negligence on
the Xbox Team. It is purely due to the reverting of features that they had originally had in place. That time could have been spent on optimizing the Xbox One, instead of reverting features everyone flipped out about. Voice Messages are more convenient
than navigating a on screen keyboard, booting up your smartglass, or picking up a keyboard to type. Voice Messages are wanted, and we just need the votes. I have started a new thread for them, as well as voted for the other ones. Vote for them all if you
are in favor.

 

Friends only should be the only way this can come back. Other than that i havent missed voice messaging at all - so many less scrubs

 

To counter your point Davey, but how many people truly get on that website and vote. And you say it isn't that amazing. However, 5,000 votes landed other features that you see already, as well as features that are on their way for August.

Just because it isn't important to one person, that doesn't mean it's not important to other's. Everyone who bought an X1 deserves a say. Doing it your way would mean that all but a few things would end up with no votes..... To many people would just randomly
vote things down and not enough would vote things up.

 

Great point Goatsnatcher. Everyone has different views and opinions, and I respect that. Thing is, all you have to do is not vote, and there is your vote down.

 

The only way you will every be able to make a solid case to voice message is by getting the usage figures over all the people with gold accounts.

Voice messages are convenient for sending messages, yes you don't have to type, but on the 360 there were a pain to receive, 90% of the voice message i received was from people trolling.

The ratio of trolling on voice message was always higher than people sending text message, becuase its easier to send a voice message.

Other issues with voice messages is receiving them mid was through a game, its much easier and quicker to read a message than it is to listen to a voice message, which can't be played through the site, or on smartglass were I do 99% of my messaging.

I would be happy with a compromise, if I could block all voice messages and MS implements a system which converted voice messages to text on the fly I could live with that.

voice messages might be wanted, but so are pink xbox's and in both cases not by everyone.

 

@Goat, so as a user I don't get a say in receiving voice messages?

If the implementation effects me, I should also get a vote.

At the end of the day its upto MS what they do, if they implement stuff thats fine I will live with it, but my user expereince after testing on the 360 is better without isn't that a valid consideration of notneimplementation?

Davey boy you make great points. There is no disputing this. Personally, I only used VM to send messages to my friends. And as far as trolls go, if I was in a MP game, and I received a VM I just deleted it right away. Or if I was curious because perhaps
someone wanted to be a friend, as soon as I heard some non-sense I stopped it and deleted it. I am all about community, and we do not have time for scrubs. You don't, I don't, and we all need to get along. I too am all for compromise.

 

For the record there is nothing nicer than receiving a voice message from someone saying well played, good game etc.

 

also for the record there is nothing funnier than blowing a raspberry into a voice message and sending it to a friend for no good reason.

 

Davey boy, to answer your question about the voting. It is like a voting for a candidate for office. If you do not support wither of the 2 candidates you do not vote. That says a lot when a registered voter does not vote. Secondly, your 360 experience
is through the 360. We should not judge a 7th generation feature that can be optimized and better utilized on a 8th Generation console. That was my point on the OP. We should never carry ill feelings into a new relationship so to speak. haha

 

So you still use voice messaging on Xbox too sometimes? I'll tell some of my friends to put in a vote for you ^u^

Personally I don't mind getting love or music voice messages or being colloquial on Xbox. Doesn't mean I outright abuse the feature. Xbox 1 being a next gen console I'm sure the next gen of children want more ways of messaging over Xbox Live than just morse
code aka txting - that's how I'll put it. Younger members including myself also would like a return of voice messaging or more ways of messaging on Xbox Live than just txt.
