Xbox update 4/13 Issue....

Ok , so the XBL service went down earlier today , about 2PM. (CMT) It is now 10PM almost 11PM.......Still no friends list.... Still no messages / voice messages.....Thats 8+ hours with still persisting issues....Help?

Video messaging. That sounds really useful and cool.

 

I wouldn't mind having them and I didn't mind getting them either. I can't see how they would annoy people. Just don't listen to them. lol.

That feedback site is a load of crap. They changed our profiles on this site and then say "look, you wanted it, you got it" when in reality it should have been that way from the beginning.

Next they'll show achievements and games played on the ONE on this site and they will say "straight from the feedback site we have now included x1 history on xbox.com". That should be a given.

Eventually voice messages will be possible but they will say that they got the idea from their feedback site.

 

@diesel....let me give you an analogy that fits well. By saying " just don't listen to them and delete them" and NOT giving us the option to block all voice-mail, is like turning off all SPAM filtering on my email account, thus allowing dozens of random
emails to flood my inbox. It is more than annoying. Bad enough with random text messages, double that with voice. Making it optional all the way around, is the best for everyone, in my opinion.

So I found this on the official feedback site. It has 3,198 (or more) posts. Those on this forum who say they don't want voice messages, well... there ARE those of us who WANT this "Xbox" feature on "XBOX 1".

I'm sure M knows about this. Give it some patience and it will roll out sooner or later on Xbox 1. Voice messaging between at least all Xbox 1 consoles should be issued and possible, since all Xbox 1 consoles have the same audio codec.

Video messaging sounds like a great idea and M might use this so they can come up with an excuse not to issue voice messaging since there may be Video messaging which you should be able to record voice. Since the Kinect sensor for Xbox 1 can tell even if
your wearing glasses (me and one of my friends were playing Kinect he took his glasses off during mid avatar creation in Kinect Sports Rivals, and at the end the game said "and you can put back on your glasses"). If the Kinect can do this.... then it should
be able to tell if some other kids try to abuse the system and send naked stuff. The Kinect would automatically bring up a Dashboard message saying this video message won't be sent. Put some clothes on first. I'm sure the Xbox 1 system and Kinect are smart
enough to detect if someone is about to send or do something wrong. I know you cannot write swear words on the current Xbox 360 and perhaps the Xbox 1 Dashboard including mottos and if you use the Dashboard keyboard to write signs in Minecraft it just comes
up as "censored" on the sign. Xbox does have tools which help make it an enjoyable experience.

 

the massive problem with the feedback forum is you can't add a negative vote, so your only seeing one side of the coin.

 

That's a good thing though Davey. You don't want people voting against ideas just because it doesn't suit them. You have to think about it, even idea's You have voted on would get negative votes, you get selfish people that would see an idea and think...
"I'd never use that, I'll give it a down vote just because I can".

 

Why add a negative vote? It's feedback peps know when they hit the vote button they agree with that feedback. If you don't agree with the feedback, just don't vote in it. If you feel it's inappropriate, then hit that button. M will probably not take it down
unless it breaches any Xbox rules, not because you disagree with the feedback. There are plenty of us who use the feature often. Microsoft encourages feedback.

 

I agree with goatsnatcher. You post a feedback. If peps like it they vote for it. If they don't agree with it don't vote for it. Older peps and peps who don't play on Xbox 360 (or Xbox 1) everyday and experience in a positive way the social benefits of Xbox
Live features. Voice messaging is one of those features. Since more than 3k peps voted in that feedback and there are other feedbacks on voice messaging it is a nice feature to have. I posted on there how I would like to see if friends are offline WHEN they
were on last time. It got at least 28 votes. And guess what, in the August Update, Microsoft is going to roll out an update mentioning that when a friend is offline, it will say when they were last online (eg. 2 hours ago, 3 days ago).

Based on your theory of if I don't want it don't vote, then there are millions of no's on all the feedback since there are millions of xbox uses that haven't voted.

In the same thoery that negative votes will be used for selfish reasons, things get added and voted on that are no important and will be added for the vocal few, I would be really interested in how easy it was to add 3d support, and how people will actually
use it.

However I wouldn't vote add a negative vote on 3D support, because it doesn't effect me, however no matter how you look at it voice messaging does.

At the end of the day MS IMO need to get a rounded opinion not a one sided opinion which is what the feedback system currently offers.

 

There's kids and young peps on Xbox 1 too.

At least 2 posts regarding voice messaging. One has 1.3k+ votes. The other has over 3k votes. On the official feedback site. It's an Xbox Live feature which more than just a few peps on Xbox Live want on Xbox 1. It's simple math really. M is probably going
to end up issuing it sooner or later. There's also been several we want voice message threads on the Xbox 1 general discussion xbox forum too.
