7200rpms Hard drive

Hi

Can you advise on a 7200rpm hard drive to connect to my xbox one s.

My current drive is 5400rpm and is causing problems.

Seems to be hard to find this info on all brands.

I would like to get a 3tb minimum.

EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE

Looking to buy a 2TB 7200RPM external hard drive for the xbox one, which one is recommended or which one do you use?

SSD hard drives aren't needed for a games console. Wouldn't it be better to have a 1TB 7200rpm drive instead?

You can still get some 7200rpm drives. It's my understanding that newegg.com has some multi terabyte drives. And, yes they are faster then 5400rpm drives. But, the down side for 7200rpm drives is they draw more power. So, if you are looking for pure speed
at the lowest power consumption, then SSD is the way to go.

P.S. I just dismantled a couple of old 10,000rpm drives. At 72GB and needing 800mAmp (approximately 1Amp) for both +12 and +5 volts, they are all but useless.

When shopping online, just rely on which hard drive model has the most numerous, positive reviews (better chance at a reliable purchase). Not much to look for in terms of specs, but just make sure it supports SATA speeds at 6.0Gbps and 7200rpm. Good brand
names are usually Seagate, Western Digital, Hitachi, or Toshiba.

Can't remember the exact model numbers, but I'm using a spare 2TB 7200rpm Hitachi drive I put inside a Samsung USB 3.0 enclosure. I've been using that for nearly a year without problems. All of my Xbox One games go in there, while the 360 games go in the
Xbox's internal drive. Games load slightly faster compared to the internal drive, if anything. Noticeably dramatic speed boosts are best left to SSD's, but that's if you have the hundreds of dollars to splurge on.

Any hard drive with it's own power supply and runs at 7200rpm should give quicker load times. It just means having a plug plugged in.

Obsessive Power

If you can get an external with a 7200rpm hdd then go for it, but the 5400rpm drives will work just fine. Note that the external hard drive
MUST be USB 3.0 compliant. Minimum size of 256GB.
