7/13 xboxone update ?

Tonight when i looged on , it stated update was needed , i update , go to homepage expecting to see update explanation as they usually do . But this time no explanation at all . Anyone else have this happen ? Was i hacked ? :-(

Are you sure the update wasn't for GTA V? They just released the Ill Gotten Gains Part 2 / 1.28 Patch yesterday.

 

Would'nt that have updated when launching gta 5 ? the update happened right at power up , it was very strange.

 

Not necessarily. The One is set up to download updates for games you aren't playing, almost in the background, so you don't need to sit around waiting for them to update when you click on the game to play it.

Again, this is just my guess as to what the update was for.

 

I understand what you're saying , but I always turn the power off to console , so no power nor online available to it when not in use , (like unplugging washer when not in use) . it is my understanding that what you're describing takes place when system
is powered down , standby mode , for folks that like the quick on off . but it could still probably be that , not sure , I just know it was a 1st time for such a thing to happen . usually every game I have played makes me update at the launch of game , and
system updates always come with videos showcasing what just came in the update . this was very strange update .

 

it wouldn't let me sign in to xbl till updating really weird :-(

 

You will still need to update your games and will be prompted to do so, if you use energy saver mode. I wasn't prompted to DL this update, but I make it a habit to start checking for console updates around mid month. On the date OP posted this thread, there
was an update available. I DL'd it and had the same result... no explanation, nothing changed. BTW, I don't play GTA and it would not have been any game update anyway, this was a system update.
