  1. 7.1 Surround Sound

Using a fiber optic cable, connected from my Xbox One S to my A/V receiver, with HDMI audio Off, Optical audio set to Bitstream Out and Bitstream format set to Dolby Digital along with Audio Out Surround Sound enabled, I do not get a 7.1 signal (3/4.1),
I only get 5.1 (3/2.1). How do I fix that?

    :)

Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible games not outputting 7.1 audio from HDMI

    Hey there,

The Xbox 360 console doesn't support 7.1 surround, only 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS. Due to this, it is normal that backward compatible games are outputting 5.1 surround. On your Xbox 360 setup, it sounds you have it set up with Pro Logic IIx to simulate 7.1
surround sound, but the Xbox 360 console doesn't support true 7.1 surround sound.

Hope this helps clear it up.

    Hey Inertial Wizard -

Hmm. Double check that you have your stuff >>setup correctly<<, including having the optical cable run
from the TV to your A/V receiver instead of your Xbox One console. Also, can you let us know the make/model of your receiver and TV so we can do a bit more digging?

    Thanks! 7.1 Surround Sound :)

I can confirm that the Xbox one happily runs 7.1 And also the new DTS format too.

    7.1 surround sound

Just read that Dolby is not supported via old headsets yet which is a bit crap. It's coming in an update. But I'm sure they said 5.1 is via HDMI. Maybe even 7.1.

Through HDMI? What about the optical?

    7.1 surround sound

The only source that can play uncompressed 7.1 is blu ray. I'm pretty sure at the moment, games are still just using 5.1 surround, but if have a 7.1 setup, it will replicate it.
