6M console in it first year is good. I don't see most SONY fans and MSfans jump to there repected next gen console until 2015. I see buth will be over 10M by this time next year. Because developer will stop supporting last gen next year. And only make for
XB1/PS4. And it be that way until sometime in 2020's.

  2. I would love to get the xbox one, but I've got some things to work out before upgrading to the one. 1) finish a few games on 360, 2) don't have the money as of right now, got some debt to pay off and 3) I usually wait a year before I buy an electronic because
I wanna see what people say about it 4) looks like a lot of people have put in their input for the xbox one and its gotten a lot better.

    It has indeed!

When it released all it was to me was a black shiny hunk a box with tonnes of missing XBL Features and a UI which wasn't kid friendly. Even my Samsung S5 has a kid mode. Now they've brought many of the missing features back, more games are out for it, M
acquired Minecraft, and the November Update when officially released for everyone.... will allow you to change the Dash background and see the return of location and bio on your profile. 6 million peps is a good number. Especially since the console hasn't
been out for 12 months yet.

6 million peps, that's more than what

    - NZ's population (roughly 4.4 million)

    - Sydney's population (4.something million)

    - Melbourne's population (4.something million)

  6. -Also the competition has more than doubled the X1 according to those charts

Very true sir, but with no exclusives coming out that are raking in the reviews, I think the PS4 is gonna slide just a little bit this holiday season. This will be the first time Xbox One has been available in the Holiday season without a Kinect (A word
that just angers people no end for some reason) and it's got a very reasonable lowered Holiday price, AND two exclusive Titles that are pretty massive- One being Sunset Overdrive (Though I STILL don't get it's Appeal), and the other being the most ambitious
value-based bundle ever to hit the next gen consoles, and if that weren't enough it's a Halo bundle. One of the most recognisable game franchises of all time.

So when you add it all up-

    Lower Price

    No Kinect

    Anticipated Holiday Titles

I think the Xbox One is going to have a very good Christmas. Let's not forget, this time last year Xbox One was the most expensive Unit, and came with a Kinect which it turned out many didn't want. The Resolution differences out of the box certainly didn't
help it's cause, and I think it STILL sold really well, so yeah, I reckon the Xbox One is gonna have a very productive Holiday season.

Don't get me wrong, Playstation still has a few really big titles coming out next year that will attract many buyers, but hopefully by then we'll have a few more exclusives to look forward to ourselves like Quantum Break, and Gears of War.

I think the lowered price by $50.00 is going to help especially with 3 or 4 bundles. PS4 got a huge boost in the beginning because of the bad press MS got. Even though they reversed it, people still didn't know and only went with what they originally heard.
After that the ONE was still a 100 euro more and that's a lot.

Fast forward to this holiday and I think it will do much much better. Lower price than PS4, more exclusives (even though they aren't everyones cup of tea) and a Kinectless bundle will help.

I do actually think it is fairly important to close the gap with the PS4. Imagine if the PS4 was at around 25 million sold to the ONE's 11 million. You would start to see Sony get more developer support.

I think Sony's lead is due to many of the things you've mentioned, but also due to the fact that not everyone knows about the changes Xbox had (To expand on your initial point). I still get people asking how I deal with having to be online all the time,
or having the DRM. It's a shame that Microsoft haven't been able to spread the word about the changes (Not that I didn't support them. I've been supporting everything Xbox One since it's reveal) because I really do think that would have helped. Now you've
got Sony saying, we sell more, our res is better, we're more popular, Destiny is only on PS4 (Trust me, gullible or non-game news savy people will be fooled by this) and we are for the players. This sort of marketing scheme does wonders when the competition
has been slapped in the face by negative reaction. But there is too much good stuff on Xbox to be ignored forever, and the sales and general reception is beginning to show this. Not that it was selling badly at all, it's just been made to look like it is by
    a more popular console.

I was talking to a Game employee the other night and he said in his particular store the trend is returning PS4's to trade in for Ones at the moment.

With all the Bad PR xbox gets and hate and etc. Im shock they sold 6 million. Xbox is the best place to game and aslong as MS keeps that promise they will sell units. The best thing about MS losing is we the gamer wins.

"I feel this is more of a troll post and you mocking this xbox one Rubix then you praising it. so what 6million ah well its selling and gamers are happy".

It's neither meant to mock or praise. Just stating a fact. 6 mil sold and exceeding first year 360 sales is what it is.

Not just basing that off VGChartz. Calculated all the NPD figures aswell and the typical 60% USA sales and 40% outside US sales for both Xbox 360 and the first month of Xbox One sales (that were confirmed directly from Microsoft) does indeed suggest it has
now exceeded the 6 million mark. It' definitely a believable figure.

Sure I bash on the Xbox One heavily but Sony, Nintendo and the PC get no different treatment! It's a long tradition of mine since the 90s. I even bashed on the Xbox 360 for 2 years straight before buying it. Man's got to have a hobby.

I'm only a true "fanboy" of Rockstar Games (peace and fortune be upon them). It will be them who ultimately dictate when and what next gen consoles I get. They are the true masters as far as I am concerned.

  12. I like to simplify things (since I'm terrible at math). Let's assume that the average price overall is $450 (since that's the half-way point between the 2 price points available of $500 and $400 for the console). If MS has sold over 6 million consoles, that's
[6,000,000 x $450 = $2,700,000,000] (not accounting for additional costs, of course, such as production costs, advertising costs, etc.)!!!

That's insane! $2.7 billion!? That, in my mind, tells me that they're doing perfectly fine...

...but then again, MS did just buy Minecraft for $2.5 billion... 6 million+ :p

^^ I'm sure some of that money went to the retailers. They're not going to stock them and sell them for free. I wonder how much of it MS take in as a profit.

  15. They lost money on the Xbox Side of their company.

According to many articles, which you can all Google any time you want. Revenue for the Xbox Brand was up to $1.7 billion, But costs were also up to $2.1 billion including R&D. According to a report they have to publish known as the 10k Report.

So that would count as a loss. But it is probably offset against Patents, and income on Patents.

    apps.shareholder.com/.../viewerContent.aspx

    10k Annual report above

From the report if you can't find it

    Computing and Gaming Hardware

Computing and Gaming Hardware revenue increased $3.2 billion or 49%,
primarily due to higher revenue from the Xbox Platform and Surface. Xbox Platform revenue increased $1.7 billion or 34%, due mainly to sales of Xbox One, which was released in November 2013, offset in part by a decrease in sales of Xbox 360. We sold 11.7 million
Xbox consoles during fiscal year 2014 compared with 9.8 million Xbox consoles during fiscal year 2013. Surface revenue increased $1.3 billion or 157%, due mainly to a higher number of devices and accessories sold.

Computing and Gaming Hardware gross margin decreased slightly, due to a $3.2 billion or 59% increase in cost of revenue, offset in part by higher revenue.
Xbox Platform cost of revenue increased $2.1 billion or 72%, due mainly to higher volumes of consoles sold and higher costs associated with Xbox One. Surface cost of revenue increased $970 million or 51%, due mainly to a higher
number of devices and accessories sold, offset in part by a charge for Surface RT inventory adjustments of approximately $900 million in fiscal year 2013.

That being said, the company as a whole is doing rather well....
