So are the 'masses' in the USA getting easier to manipulate then, IceStorm? Should we be worried about the 'masses' there accepting higher prices incase they move to other shores.

    I think we should.

I'm not sure what you mean by "manipulate". On the PC, I doubt anyone is paying full price for Watch Dogs. The keys for it are available at 20% off right now from www.greenmangaming.com, and it's been even less at times during the run-up to launch. On console
there are other offers, especially for physical. One of my friends is a member of a Best Buy game buyer club and gets $10 gift certificates regularly for pre-ordering titles. Amazon routinely offers pre-order discount and bonuses for physical copies. If people
don't buy digital because the price is too high, eventually MS and publishers will come up with a way to incentivize digital sales. My guess is they're waiting for MS's pre-order infrastructure to go live, but that's just a guess.

I'm not sure what "other shores" you are referring to. Far as I'm aware the USA has some of the lowest game prices around, globally.

Oh come on IceStorm, you know how the 'masses' don't shop around. You've mentioned that often enough.

PC version is £33.82 on amazon with free delivery and 44 for xb1 version, i just had this debate with a mate and had a feeling there would be a thread on this very subject, i seen it for 50 in grainger and instantly knew it was gonna be 60 on the store,
i mean jeez dont undercut the big players but at least have a price very close it's sad to see Game etc cry about pricing then pull ms's digital pants down.

As for the bigger supermarkets i think they'd sell the product whatever ms did, they use games to get kids instore because kids come with parents and parents generally grab some shopping on the trip and they wouldnt have to pay wholesale physical price since
they could just effecitvely sell digital license cards

It's ridiculous but makes me glad they turned back on drm in some ways because if they didn't then i'd be shafted if they stuck games at 60 quid, if i buy digital i buy a license its pc esque so why isnt the price but hey i wont moan about it i weren't keen
on watchdogs anyway and have already resigned to stciking with physical, maybe i'll use the store in 6 years when the big 75% sales come on like the 360 (another store i rarely used bar buying arcade games) :/

    option.

Some good points Lta , .

On a side note , Grainger used to be good , but have gone downhill .

I remember , I used to get games from Dan , at Blyth market .

When he told me his daughter was starting a shop called Grainger games , I gave them all my business ...Now , it's Asda .

The store near me hasn't been to bad lately, it varies from game to game but they have had some good deals of the week lately and a pretty good pre owned price for various games but yeah i usually go Tesco, can't beat the big boys when it comes to pricing
and deals, just waiting for the right game + gold time deal to crop up or a big price slash for a day or two, failing all that i'll wait on the pre owned copies coming in and losing value which i can see happening with this game pretty quick, especially with
    those who aren't online,

  11. You can get the Steam version for just £29.99 from CD Keys Now.

Until they sort their pricing out I'll just buy my games used.

There is a a lot more to the story then just the taxes.

The price of day one digital is going to be the same as day one retail at least for the near future so you have to look at the regular retail price if your going to compare the US price to the UK.

They have to pay the import tax then they have to pay to import the games. Then when you move the game into the UK you have to start working in there currency

For example if the delivery truck driver in the US get's 12$ an hour and the truck driver in the UK also gets 12 an hour that 12$ US dollars just became worth 7.14 in the UK. It now cost them 20$ instead of the 12 to pay that guy.

Then take that across all the things needed to get the game to market and it jacks up the price. They work in US currency.

Make digital cheaper ......END of used games = more £ for publisher + cheaper games for us users ....win win .

As i said in another thread , I bought a used game yesterday ... was I the 2nd , 3rd or ???th person to own that game ...the publisher have seen the money from 1 sale .

If a game is £40 and I play it for 3 months , then sell it for £20 ,... I shall continue to do that , Every person that buys that disc after me .... is lost revenue to the publishers .

    If digital copies were £25 - £30 ... I would do that.

Just wanted to say my bit b4 the thread gets deleted .
