£54.99 to download Titanfall!!!! WHAT!!!

I've currently got £58 in my Microsoft account, I refuse to pay £54.99 for this game..

I couldn't believe it when I fired up my xbox this morning... I'll be be getting the disc on the way home from work.... I'm not greedy or tight but this price is ridiculous ha...

 

Jack I don't blame you. I'd have loved to buy this digitally. In my view there's two types of games on the XB1. Keepers which I'll never get rid of because my mates play them. IE COD:Ghosts and Titanfall. So I'll be keeping them. The other type would be
mostly single players, Watchdogs, Ryse (although I bought that digitally). Those when I get bored of I'll buy on disk. But when I saw the price of Titanfall I thought screw that, there's no way I'm paying £55 for it when it's £36 on the American Live market
place. It's just unadulterated greed on the behalf of Microsoft. To think I've been a loyal (as many of you have) customer of Microsoft for years (since DOS 3.1) and their greed has tainted that.

 

This is beyond irritating. Over in the US they are the same price for the physical and digital copies ($60 or £37). Its' not even the normal conversion rip off as once you add VAT you get to about the price of the physical ones in the UK which is £42.

Why they have to bump up the price so much for digital copies is beyond reason or comprehension. If the retail price for Titanfall is £42 then sell it for £42 regardless of where it's bought. Or allow retailers to sell codes so that we can download it.

I agree that price for a digital title is ridiculous. I'm really wanting to go all digital but i refuse to pay more for less.

 

I can't speak for other countries where the price of digital may vary, but in the U.S., the price of digital is the exact same price as a new physical copy - not more, not less; just the same.

 

The disparity in price is absolutely unjustifiable. The profit margins on the download must be unimaginably high. Especially if the US equivalent is $60, I doubt that is costs $30 per unit extra to upload to a UK machine. They must be able to see that they're
losing otherwise guaranteed direct custom from British customers without 3rd parties skimming their profits.

I'm no businessman but surely promoting confidence in the digital download system would be far more profitable in the long run than stealing a few quid from the few people who deem buying Titanfall for nearly £20 extra is a reasonable pay off for not having
to insert a disk into the drive occasionally.

You're absolutely right. It's not just EA, but considering EA games are the most expensive games on the marketplace (at least over here they are anyway) I think it's safe to say EA are more liable for the cost of Titanfall than Microsoft. Take a good look
at their prices for PC games on Origin compared to their competition and you can see just how much EA really push for maximum RRP even at a digital level.

No one hates on America, or it's people, so don't try and make this into something it's not. This also has nothing to do with UK VAT increases when physical copies of the same game are sold at near a third cheaper in the UK and when most games brand new
are sold at around £10 less digitally.

It's one thing to deal with price increases because of VAT, it's another to deal with price increases on top of that VAT increase because of corporate greed.
