I agree the download is over priced. I think it's because Microsoft needs to keep retail happy to sell the consoles. If retail is unhappy because people stop buying discs due to downloads being cheaper they will stop selling the consoles.

Although being an online only game I have had no choice but the buy the download because inserting the disc every time I want to play would be annoying.

Luckely you can buy £55 Microsoft credit for something like £49.60 from GAME website due to the buy £50 get £5 free offer.

So I used that.

 

60 for the game and 20 for a pass? that is pretty bad... especially since the pass will likely just add in features that should have been there at launch for $60.00.

 

The season pass is just a way to but the future map packs at a discount. Buying it doesn't have any other advantages.

I'm not sure why you think future map packs should be in the game already. If that was the case the game would never get released considering they are probably still working on the map packs.

 

I was reading that actually making a physical copy has minimal costs....Another Ambassador had some pretty interesting info on costs. Its a small percentage anyway hence similar if not the same on digital side of things.

 

£55 for the download is a ridiculous price considering you can't transfer or resell it. I was planning on going digital, and all the other games I've bought so far, and I've bought a fair few, have had sensible digital prices (~£35). I wanted to play this
game, but won't be paying that price for it, and am going to try and resist getting a disc version.. I like being able to switch games easily.

If they're worried about shops not selling games, why not also sell download codes in shops etc?

 

I think it's to make the physical bundle more appealing.

 

It all comes out to be about the same price. You do not pay for tax when you download, but you due at stores. Plus you have to factor in the convenience fee... yes the fee of getting it right then without having to leave your home. Its the same reason why
they have Free shipping (5-10day), 3day/2day/Overnight with cost. People will pay extra for that service. It may not be for all but its an option.

 

I got Titanfall delivered to my house, on the 14th, for £37. I then purchased the £20 season pass, bringing my total to £57. Only 3 quid more than the basic digital version. Unreal.

 

Maybe the shops care about physical discs because of trade in and resale, where all the money goes to them rather than the developers... sigh.

 

Convenience fee? How about the convenience of the developer not having to press to disc, print case covers and manuals, and not having to supply cases then ship it.

There's simply no excuse for such a high price other than greed, especially when other digital games are cheaper!!!

 

You do pay tax on the download but I gladly pay for the convenience. Not sure where your located but its the same price in the stores here in NYC so I have no complaints. Even if it were cheaper id only get the disk if I absolutely couldn't load the digital
version.
