    50hz upscaling to 60hz?

So I understand that the xbox one can read 50hz media.

I am considering purchasing a blu ray disc from the uk that is encoded in 50hz, and I am in the usa.

Will my xbox upscale the 50hz media to 60hz, or will it just read the 50hz media? I have a 60hz TV, and am not sure if the media would play smoothly; im guessing that it would play well if the xbox upscales, but not play if the xbox just reads 50hz media
and doesn't convert it for the tv to display.

    Thanks

    :)

Xbox one s does not allow 60Hz in advanced video settings but my TV supports it

Okay, gotcha! Thanks for all the extra info and your patience. 50hz upscaling to 60hz? :)

So, the difference between 50hz and 60hz is mostly dependent on where in the world you are located, literally. The US tends to use 60hz while places such as Europe use 50hz. If your TV is an American model, the fact that it will not utilize 50hz is a total
non-issue unless you are planning an overseas move sometime. >>This is a good overview of 50/60hz.<< Knowing that, that
means that your TV is automatically working at 60hz from the get-go and you would only want to select 50hz if your TV supported both and you were in a region where 60hz was not supportable.

Now, if your TV supports 4K upscaling, the ideal setup is to have your TV do the upscaling work vs the Xbox One S console. If you set your console resolution to 1080p, the TV should take that and then upscale it on its own. When you're looking at your video/display
settings on your console, those boxes you're checking off are for native content to pass through. Since your TV doesn't support 50hz, that is why you cannot select that as it won't be able to pass through natively.

Hopefully that helps clarify a bit. If that doesn't and you still have questions, please post back and we'll work through it. 50hz upscaling to 60hz? :)

Xbox one s does not allow 60Hz in advanced video settings but my TV supports it

I want to use the Xbox One S as my DVD player, to play 4K Ultra HD HDR blu ray DVDs. I can do that now, however, these DVDs are playing back at 24Hz instead of the 60Hz that my TV supports. I don't want the TV to do any upscaling, I want the Xbox One S DVD player
to play my DVDs at the highest quality. But because of a bug, Xbox One S does NOT allow me to play movies/dvds at 60Hz. How can I fix that given that all my TV settings are correct?

    Thanks

    50hz upscaling to 60hz?

EDIT: found out that it will work and in fact play on my 60hz tv. However, the next question I have is: will it play smoothly and without loss? Wouldn't want a weird judder or quality degradation.

    dvd playback is horrible

The Xbox One does upscale DVDs

What region discs are you trying?

PAL DVDs (e.g. Region 2 DVDs for the UK) suffer poorly on the Xbox One as it forces everything to 60Hz despite PAL DVDs being 50Hz, leading to judder issues.
