I work nights, and therefore I'm often awake around 3-6am when these updates are posted. I want to make it clear, I'm not complaining that there's updates (although they do somehow manage to make the UI worse, and more limited with every update, yet somehow fail to add mouse support for the main UI..); my complaint is that this random update comes in and forces me to restart my console (or remain offline, and DO NOTHING because nothing can be done offline on Xbox).

There is literally NO warning before these updates pop up. So I can be several hours into an unsaved gaming session (some games don't allow saves, like COD zombies, and some games reward you for completing them without saving, like the resident evil remakes), and have it straight up demand for me to end everything I'm doing so it can take 10-20 minutes to install A 500 MEGABYTE UPDATE.....

I'm getting sick to death of how demanding the windows updates are these days, and now the Xbox updates are even worse... And to top it off, it just did this stupid little update two days in a row..

I strongly suggest to people to get a PS5, and not to bother with M$'s next line of consoles. Well, unless you love forced updates against your will, forced advertising on the home screen, a UI that gets progressively worse over the years (and will probably add more adverts to the home screen), and maybe a feature or two will be added to the UI to make the general system use better, but then later be removed because it costs M$ too much to update, despite the fact that they're forcing repeated useless updates on us all the time now...

You should be able to carry on gaming without any problem as updates load in the background unless they are updates for a game you are wanting to play, in which case you have to do the update first to allow the game to start.

Go into your settings and turn off auto-update, problem solved.
And a 500Mb update only takes a minute or two to complete.

It was no less than five minutes, and that's not even the point. It forced me to leave whatever I'm doing and lose whatever progress made.

Auto update or no, it shouldn't be forcing me out of what I'm doing just to install an update that i may not even want.

M$ are terrible for this.. windows updates often force themselves on you, and their crappy AV force turns itself on .etc.. and these things can't be stopped without using third party solutions, unless you happen to own the more expensive version of windows..

Oh, and forgot to add the convenient way that M$ xbox store randomly forgets that you bought games. A bug/glitch with the store that's been in there for years now.. (no less than 5).

Really, i could go on, but the fact is, M$ clearly has too much money and doesn't give a [mod removed] about the people anymore. Stop buying their [mod removed]

I have the maximum proficiency gold title if that what you're referring to? You get that after about 500ish kills. I mean a black one with a silver outline.

hdd manufacturers count 1000 Megabytes to a Gigabyte.

Software is designed and calculate hdd space as 1024 Megabytes in a gigabyte.

500GB when formatted is 465GB

Then you have the system files, xbox 360 system files, cache, updates and reserved storage for screen capture and video capture.
