500gb Xbox only showing 27% free after installing two games

Ok so just set up my brand new 500gb X1, downloaded from the store and installed gears of war ultimate edition, and Assassins creed unity and it says 279gb free space left, is a 500gb drive really 500gb or am I missing something.

everything seems to be working ok, seems very different to my 360 struggling to find my way around the dash

    :)

For those who haven't upgraded yet...

Microsoft is offering a nice deal. Buy a Xbox One and get a free game. Deal is good for both the 500GB and 1TB models. Valid only in the United States June 21-June 27. The free game will be a physical copy. If you find a bundle that offers a free game already, that's a pretty sweet deal.

    Hi DoubtfulTets

From what you described this does sound like it is normal and that you do have a 500gb installed in your console. Please do not forget that the with some Xbox one games can be over 50gb in size along with some of the hard drive space is reserved for the
console operating system along other console features.

Please note it is very easy to expand the storage on the Xbox One by adding an external hard drive that meets the specs below.

thanks for the info, I have another question you may be able to help me with

How do I delete a game from the hard drive that I have downloaded, and more importantly can it be re installed again at a later date and how ?

Sorry but never down the downloading before so really no idea

Hi when you are in the my games and apps section all you have to do is highlight the game/app in question press the menu button on the controller and you will get the option to manage the game and this will allow you to uninstall the game.

As for any game you have own that is not installed it is very easy to re install them as they will appear as small icons in a waiting to install section on the far right hand side of my games and apps.

In addition to this as long as the console is connected to Xbox Live your game saves will also be held in the cloud.

I have seen 2T Xbox seagate external drive USB 3.0 for sale, but its Green !!!, can a differant external drive work as long as it is USB 3.0 ?

I would just prefer the look of a black one, as opposed to Green

In theory any external hard drive that meets the specs below should work and allow you to play games from them. I personally chose a Western Digital USB powered hard drive.

It uses a USB 3.0 connection. If you’re using a USB hub, the hub must also be USB 3.0 or later.

It has 256 GB or larger storage capacity.

It has a partition. Typically, drives come with a preformatted partition. For more information about partitioning an external hard drive, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  10. all the Xbone updates r massive! the games r essentially Blu-Ray uber HD... Destiny with all DLC eats a whopping 60gb+ .

any digital games you own will show up in Games & Apps on far right in the Games section titled "Ready to install". you can uninstall a digital game and it will go back to the "Ready to install" section. with Backwards Comp you will have to put the game
disc in and it will download a digital reworked version of the 360 game. with Backward Comp the Xbone is basically fake-running the 360 Operating System to play the game on the Xbone but the upside is you can play the 360 game on the Xbone and invite your
friends who are playing ON their 360 to play with you. 360 games r typically 5gb or so. the smallest Xbone game i have is around 13gb *cough* Borderlands 3...

my 360 is old and sluggish sometimes
