500GB External HDD on Xbox360 E

Hello Xbox community. My nephew just got a Xbox360 for Christmas. They bought him a 4GB model (I know, not enough space).

So they went out and also bought a 2TB USB 3.0 External HDD.

Toshiba - Canvio Connect 2TB External USB 3.0 Model:
HDTC720XK3C1

When plugged in and Xbox360 formats it, only 32Gb is showing up on the Hard Drive to store games. Now I told them to buy the

Microsoft - 500GB Media Hard Drive for Xbox 360 - Black

Model: 6FM-00001

Now would the official Microsoft external Hard Drive actually show up as 500GB for external use. To store game saves, games, and just make more room for him to play his games? If not, is there any other option to expand his 4GB console? He has the XBox
360 E Model 1538 360 Slim.

External HDD

Is there any way to use an external hdd on the Xbox 360 E console?

(I don't have a lot of memory sticks or offical Xbox 360 hdds)

P.S. I have a 500GB Hdd that I'd like to use

External HDD Use with 360 S

Well I'm 1/2 way thru transferring all the content on my 500gb internal HDD to my new WD 2TB external HDD.

the 500 gig is internal, it would expand what he has on the 4 gig. and any time you go to save or load a save it will always ask if you want to load/save from the 4 gig or the 500 gig HD.

yup just pop open the side panel slide the drive all the way in till it clicks into place, close side panel turn on system, easy peasy.

Only just sold my 360 Elite and yes, the HDD off an Elite will fit the original fat 360 as they both used the same design, an external HDD that fits on to the end of the console.

Whereas the S and E models both use an HDD that fits internally, behind the removable grill on the R/H side of the console.

Also, the later model of HDD (for the S & E consoles) was only available in 250GB and 500GB.

The 120GB HDD was only available in the original 360 design.

Most defo the 500gb with witcher 3, another 500gb is nothing in size when you can consider an external hdd when you need it eventually.
