    Its always been sold as a hybrid in the ads I have seen, but not seen the 360 homepage for over a year now...

    500 gab or 1tb

    Also remember most games are like 50GB installs. So ten of those and your 500GB is done. Also factor in the free two games a month besides backward compatibility is right around the corner for the bigger list added. Besides patches and updates. 500GB
    isn't much. Unless you decide to delete as you go. But then if you decide to play it again then you have to download it all over again and install it.

    ^ I started deleting as I went, and it just proved too much hassle, when I was getting invites for co-op games but couldn't join as I had uninstalled, much better to have an external with everything loaded and ready to go at a moments notice.

    I just recently bought a 1 tb external myself since I only had about 86 gb left of internal space left on my x1. Which 1 tb should last me for a while since I don't buy many games and my xbox is primarily for exclusives. Though I think the OP should just
    get the 500 gb version and buy a 2 tb external minimum if the x1 is going to be the op only console.

    Get whatever is cheaper. 500GB is enough since you delete as you go. I delete as well. I am only using 43% at the moment. No need for an external drive either. If its a digital game you can always download it later if you get the urge to play again.

    SSD is faster. I remember watching videos on youtube when PS4 users only had the option for internal HDD. Some posted the old drive with a timer loading a game. Then another video of same game and timer and the SSD loaded way faster.

    I thought with hybrid drives the SSD portion is only used for caching to help load frequently used data quicker.

    ^its a hybrid with the SSD being used mainly to for the OS to speed things up and its a more expensive option, as for game storage, my advice would be go for the 500gb and buy as much external space as you can afford with the saving on a cheaper console,
    a cheaper option all round and you will be surprised how it fills up, I have 4.5tb in total and already 25% full.

    Wait for the holidays to buy, and with the money you save you can pick up whatever external drive you like and use the savings on it.

    However, if you have money to spend now. I would suggest the 1Tb SSD internal drive Xbox One model.
