$50 gift code promo on 2016 but code expired on 2015

So I have spent a lot of time trying to resolve this situation.

* I buy a mine craft bundle which includes mine craft itself, the crew game, and $50 Microsoft gift code on Oct 2016

* I receive the code right away but a 9 digit code instead of 25 digit.

* I try many times to redeem the code within Oct 2016

* Attempt to get help from support team for months and they all are perplexed by this strange 9 digit code

* Then I look over the fine print and it says the funniest thing I had seen in some time " Code expires on Dec 2015"

* I call and question the support team, "Why would you send me an expired code for a system I bough in 2016 but that code had already expired in 2015"?

* Called Xbox Support. transferred to Microsoft Store

* Response: Sorry We cant help you

* Escalate it to the manager and senior staff

* Response: Sorry we cant help you - Remix

* Call Microsoft Answer tech

* Response: Please call the Microsoft Store



I understand its just $50 and one can get over it but enticing people to buy your system for a cheap bait and switch tactic is unworthy of a multi- billion dollar company.

I have already given up on $50 gift, my only question is why would you send your "valued" customers an EXPIRED gift code to start with??? and then not even take ownership of the issue as if the customers did something wrong....

Hi, on my account it reads $50 Microsoft Store Gift Code completed and it will be sent to your email no later than 1-07-2016 but I have not got the gift code yet should I be worried or is this normal.

Since that was a Microsoft Store offer and not an Xbox offer, you will need to contact their support for assistance -https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/28808/microsoft-store-contact-support

9 digit codes are for use in the Microsoft Store, not through Xbox. Chances are the expiration date was actually just a typo.

 

I have spoken to every Microsoft department that can have any say on this matter, ranging from sales to accounts to support to store. I have had an xbox support person on the line with me, transferring me to various departments and getting their feedback.
None could help but say nothing we can do about it. It's not that they cant help, it's definitely not difficult to generate a $50 code over own mess up or even just owning the problem, it's just that their outsourced 3rd rate staff refuses to help out customers.

I was going to buy Xbox X but I'd wait on PS next-gen console or just invest in a better PC.
