$50.00 season passes are awesome...

Well I myself can easily afford this, however I refuse to pay for season passes. They are even more overpriced here in Australia and even at half the cost I still wouldn't bother. Since when have games become "Sagas"?

Would you rather have games cut up and sold as DLC or pay full price?

^^ Yeah, €90.00 is a bit ridiculous. Some games here are €74.99 and then an additional €40.00 or €50.00 for a season pass.

I honestly could not believe when I heard the season pass was $50.00 for this game. Thats all I will say.

 

^^ At least you get it. I can afford them too, but I'm not paying for season passes. It's not right. I wasn't going to buy this game anyway. First it's mp only so it's a no go. Secondly it's DICE and after BF4 I've lost all trust in them. Finally for €60.00
it's shipping with only 12 maps. Sounds like a right rip-off all around.

 

Prices have gone down for flat screen TVs last week I saw a 32 inch one for $128. So prices have been mixed in the last 10 years. Paying $110 is too much for me for a game, but I balked at paying $114 Saturday for a new off the rack suit. I am not a fan
of season /dlc /whatever passes. I bought some map packs for Call of Duty, I got a reduced price on Destiny’s pass, and this weekend bought the expansion pass for Witcher 3 (birthday anniversary gift for me) . Only Witcher 3 seems to worth the price but
I a cheap unwed son when comes to gaming.

But I will mention I can some months spend $100 on eBooks. Rats I now at 37 books unread and growing.

 

I personally won't pick up the season pass day one. I had a lot of fun with the beta, if I'm still having the same amount of fun a few months down the line or when the first DLC releases then I will consider it.

Personally I don't think this game sounds like a rip off! I do accept we all have different views though lol

12 maps sounds good to me. I know how much fun I had on just one map, one mode on the beta, spent a lot of hours playing. Probably more hours on the beta than a lot of SP only titles. So SP/Co-op horde modes, various MP modes ( not sure exactly how many
) on 12 maps does sound like good value to me anyway.

 

Did Nintendo really come out on top this Generation?

If not maybe their gamers did.

So far I haven't seen a "Mario Kart: Standard Edition" £50.00, "Mario Kart: Pre-Order Edition Including Masterchief Skin Kart" £65.00, "Mario Kart Deluxe Edition including Masterchief Skin & limited Content Season Pass" £75.00 AND... "Mario Kart Full Season
Pass £45.00".

 

I honestly don't mind paying for DLC, I don't however like season passes, the main issue I have is not knowing what you are getting for your up front money, if they had told us it'll be X amount of maps etc etc then I might consider, but as it stands I'll
just stick with the base game for now.

I don't mind at all paying for DLC, if it prolongs the life of the game, adds more fun then I'm fine with that.

Like you, I wouldn't rush into buying season passes until I have a good idea what I'm getting. Plus I want to play the game first. Take something like Fallout 4, as much as I can't wait for it who's to say I will enjoy it? ( or anyone for that matter ) you
just don't know until you play the game.

 

I don't mind DLC so much. It's season passes before DLC is out. Batman charged 40 and from what I hear it was totally not worth it. I miss the days of true expansions although The Witcher 3 is doing a good job of it.

It's the inconsistency of some practices, combined with what appears to be obvious 'pushing to see how much more they can get' that convinces me that some companies are doing little
more than just that.

Your mention of the Batman series is a good example IMO. The last Batman game I purchased came with the Catwoman expansion... free... all you had to do was purchase the game itself.
The minute I heard that they'd be charging $40 to play as another character, I scratched the Batman series from my games list.

 

Essentially, what we're seeing is current-gen games are being sold in segments. I assume this is their way of raising prices without raising prices (release day prices, that is). I certainly won't go down this road with most games. If it comes to this,
I'll just wait until the inevitable price drop. This is a way to gouge those day one hardcore fans.

 

Do you think they are doing this because of used games taking to much money from them or because they see people lapping it up? They'll keep raising season passes prices until enough people say enough is enough.

 

Personally I don't buy into the 'second hand sales are killing the industry' junk for a second. In fact, I'd venture to say that second hand sales play a role in helping to keep the industry from choking on its own hubris.

Capitalism 101, (IMO) in part, follows "build a better mouse trap..."

When a dev/publisher decides to put out a game, their job is to make a well designed, good, fun to play game that is appealing. Then put the hype machine into motion and make it irresistible enough that the vast majority of people who want to play it, want
it bad enough that they just have to get it day 1... or even week/month 1, before there are many 2nd hand copies available.

Add to this, the fact that... if they've done their job properly, then people who get it day/week/month 1 will keep playing it and will want to keep it. If that's the case, then guess what? Not many 2nd hand copies would be available anyway.

Now if they make a game that just isn't all that great, well... the 2nd hand market will have more copies available a lot sooner. I see no problem with any company finding out they could have or should have done a better job. If they do well enough to give
it another try, they'll hopefully learn from their mistakes and do a better job next time. IMO it should work that way.

 

Some of both, I expect. Used games have always been a thorn in their side, but all this day one digital should help there. I really believe they understand just how much anticipation their is for games, and they're cashing in on it. If they can get
double the money from people who are itching to get a game on release day, they will. The extra revenue means that at some point they have room to offer the game on sale for anyone patient enough to wait.

When that PS4 exclusive game "Everybody Has Gone To Rapture" released a couple of months back, I was intrigued and wanted to try it. But I held off, thinking there would be a sale, and there way, just this past weekend. 60% off. So I grabbed it then.
