5.1 Uncompressed via HDMI suddenly not working for Samsung HT-C6500 following update

    Hi everyone,

I'm not the most technical when it comes to audio / visual setups, so please forgive me if I use the wrong terminology etc.

I've had the XBOX One since launch day and have had it connected via HDMI to my Samsung Series 8 TV which had my Samsung HT-C6500 Blu-Ray / 5.1 Surround Sound system connected to it.

Until the March update I've had no issues what-so-ever with getting 5.1 out of the XBOX for games, apps and TV. However, since previewing the update I get an error everytime I try to set my sound to 5.1 uncompressed through HDMI stating there's a problem
with my decoder. I've deleted and added it again, and checked that the Surround Sound option is still ticked in settings, but all I can get is stereo sound.

To get around this I've connected via optical from the Samsung HT-C6500 to the XBOX One and now I've got DTS 5.1 and it sounds great. However, my optical port on the Samsung HT-C6500 is kinda busted and sometimes just falls out - so if possible, I'd rather
go back to the HDMI route, which was working fine before the preview wave started.

A little help, please? 5.1 Uncompressed via HDMI suddenly not working for Samsung HT-C6500 following update :)

    :)

  3. I can't get 5.1 sound from my Samsung home theater!

Hi all! First of all sorry for my not so perfect English and I wish all those who celebrate a happy Easter! I really need help about my problem. I have Samsung home theater (http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/...atre-systems/home-theatre-systems/HT-F6500/XU).
I have PS4 also connected to HT and I'm getting 5.1 surround. With Xbox One I'm getting only stereo sound through 2 channels. I tried everything really but only stereo sound is what I'm getting!

I have Xbox One connected via HDMI to home theater receiver (Xbox One HDMI Out connected to home theater HDMI In). Home theater is connected to my TV (I have Samsung UE46ES6100). In Xbox One settings I chose 5.1 uncompressed sound via HDMI. As i said PS4
is connected in the same way and it's working. My TV has HDMI-CEC and all those features. HDMI arc is enabled. I didn't try via optical cable because HDMI is providing better sound quality.

Any have some suggestions? I found here that many of us have similar problem. Thread is closed tho (http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/xbox_one_support/f/4269/t/1690574.aspx).

Please, help me. 5.1 Uncompressed via HDMI suddenly not working for Samsung HT-C6500 following update :)

    Surround sound has been fixed?

Mine still changes from DTS 5.1 (or uncompressed 5.1) to Uncompressed 7.1 all by itself.

When I had the TV box connected via HDMI it used to change itself to Stereo.

5.1 Surround Sound Doesn't Work Properly on Xbox One

EvilBob I just tried what you said and it worked!! thanks a million bro!

to be clear I have a samsung smart tv samsung surround sound 5.1 and xbox one.

all my devices including sky box are connected to the tv via hdmi, and then the tv takes sound to the amp via optical [and hdmi anynet+ connection]

whenever i tried to change the hdmi audio to 5.1 or bitstream it would say not supported, but i just tried what you said and set it to 1080 p manually and it accepted the setting. thanks!

Surround sound keeps cutting out while playing MLB 2k11

I'm having this same exact problem. Samsung HDTV (UN55D6900WF) and an Samsung HTIB (HT-D5300). The Xbox 360 is connected to the TV via HDMI and the TV is connected to the HTIB via HDMI and an optical audio cable. Randomly, the audio will just completely
cut out and I have to cycle through the inputs or turn the HTIB off and back on. This seems to only be affecting newer games. I've spent hours in Mass Effect and Halo: Reach without a single problem but Gears of War 3 and now RAGE both present this problem.
Turning off the HTIB and using the TV's, I haven't run into the problem at all. I'd love to hear if anyone else is/was having this problem as well and if anyone has any work arounds that don't eliminate the 5.1 surrounds sound, that would also be great.

Xbox One Surround Sound Not Working over HDMI

Similar issues here, uncompressed only gives stereo output even when setting to uncompressed 5.1.. Setting to bitstream 5.1 works fine. Use to be fine until recent update

    HDMI Audio & Optical Audio

Gunjee, you must connect your soundbar to an optical (or red/white analog) audio OUTPUT on your TV, NOT an input as you described.

OrphenCB, you can't select the 5.1/7.1 uncompressed audio options because your setup doesn't support it. Optical out only supports 2-channel uncompressed PCM or compressed DD 5.1 (which Xbox One currently does not support). You also can't send uncompressed
5.1/7.1 PCM to your TV via HDMI because your TV doesn't support that, which the Xbox knows via the HDMI handshake and, thus, disables. Try setting the Xbox to send DTS over its optical out to the receiver if your receiver supports DTS. Otherwise, you'll have
to wait until the Xbox can output DD or get a better/newer receiver... BTW, if/when the Xbox supports DD output over optical, run that directly to your receiver--not via HDMI to your TV then optical out to your receiver. Most TVs will NOT send DD 5.1 from
an HDMI source out via the TV's optical out.
