5.1 Surround Sound limitations

    5.1 Surround Sound limitations


    Is there any way to get full 5.1 Surround Sound (preferably Dolby or DTS) for apps such as YouTube, Netflix, WWE Network or Media Player? I get the full experience when playing games and watching Blu-Rays but I'd like to get the most out of my sound system.
    It only works fully with 5.1 uncompressed stereo through HDMI but the quality is nowhere near as good. I've tried through HDMI and optical straight to amplifier, through the tv to the amp, etc. Thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated

    Stereo sound from satellite speakers

    To everyone out there with any kind of surround sound setup: do your satellite speakers kick out sound when playing media not output in 5.1? I'm wondering if it's a limitation of my soundbar or the xbox. Thanks

    Still no Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround after update

    Maybe I am missing something here, but weren't we promised Dolby Digital 5.1 for this update for optical? The two options listed now are DTS Surround Sound and

    Dolby Digital (not 5.1 surround) - can anyone clarify this also. BTW, it still just sounds like stereo sound, not 5.1.... 5.1 Surround Sound limitations :(

    Hulu not working Surround Sound

    Looks like from what I found on Hulu and using a search engine is the following information from Hulu. Hulu itself does NOT support 5.1 surround sound

    By comparison, Amazon offers 5.1 encoding on select content, and Hulu is limited to stereo sound, despite many network television shows offering 5.1 surround sound.

    5.1 surround isn't meant for headsets. It's meant for full surround sound speaker setup.
