5.1 audio issues with Xbox one

Discus and support 5.1 audio issues with Xbox one in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; So i have an xbox one and have a phillips home theatre system hooked up to the xbox via a optic cable.     5.1 audio issues with Xbox one


    So i have an xbox one and have a phillips home theatre system hooked up to the xbox via a optic cable. However from my xbox to tv im using a hdmi cord. It sounds good but whenever i do a surround sound test my rear speakers are not working and the sound
    is coming from the front speakers when they should be coming from the rear ones. Is this because im using an hdmi cable from xbox to the tv or is there a way around it to where all my speakers work correctly?

    Stereo signal in a 5.1 stream

    Hi Darkstar,

    The Xbox is working 100% as it should be. If the Xbox source signal is 5.1 i.e a game, then the audio stream to the receiver is 5.1 and the receiver will output 5.1 audio to the speakers. However if the Xbox audio source signal is 2.0 i.e music, then the
    stream to the receiver is 2.0 and the receiver will not magically output 5.1 audio to the speakers.

    This situation will happen for HDMI or optical using DTS or Dolby decoding etc. The Xbox will not simulate 2.0 up to 5.1. You will need to use one of the surround effects (simulation) on your receiver to scale the 2.0 audio to 5.1 audio. Sorry its not what
    you want to hear, but this is how it works :)

    I'm having the same issue. I had the HomeWorx connected to my Xbox and I had 5.1 audio from most HD channels, probably because it was via HDMI. Now, there is no 5.1 audio via USB. My opinion, the TV app needs to be updated to support 5.1 audio via USB.

    I have the same problem but i cant even enable 5.1 audio :( i can enable 5.1 audio but if i select HDMI on video output, instead of automatic. But that only allows me to select 1080p resolution, not 4k. So i can only use 4k or 5.1 audio on Xbox One X

    Check to see if you're getting audio out of your rear speakers at all. I'm having a similar issue where I can't get 5.1 audio from my xbox one through my soundbar. I've got a 5.1 system connected via HDMI (and tried all of the 5.1 uncompressed, bitstream,
    and everything else) and I keep losing my center channel (the one where all the voices come from) and the rear channels are just gone.
