    I kid you not, since launch I have had 3, count em, 3 Xbox One consoles completely stop working on me.

    DAY ONE:

    I waited outside the FutureShop in minus whatever temperature it was until midnight, extremely excited to get my hands on my pre-ordered Xbox One! I get it home and the very next night I smell burning plastic and the console sounds like a plane about to
    take off in my living room. So I call xbox support and the wait time for a support call is unbelievably long so since I haven't even had the thing for 48 hours I rush to FutureShop and see if by some ridiculous chance they have any left. Somehow there was
    one left but of course (and I know it's just a sticker on the controller saying 'day one') it was not a day one edition console. Regardless I was happy to have a new one and get back to enjoying it.

    XBOX ONE 2:

    Guess it was wishful thinking that I wouldn't experience more than one issue (even though I recall at launch for the Xbox 360 there were major issues) because within a couple months, again, I started to experience technical difficulties and eventually it
    got to the point where the console did not perform any functions properly or without error. This time Xbox support did not have such a long call wait time so I decided to give it a shot. Earlier that day I had actually heard they were going to be giving out
    a free game to those who had to replace their Xbox One since launch. Unfortunately I didn't read the fine print on that one because it was required to have sent your console for replacement through Xbox support in order to receive this compensation...While
    I understand policy and it's purpose I don't feel that because I went and solved (or so I thought) the day one issue myself, it wasn't Xbox's responsibility to own up for the fact that their product did not perform as advertised. Not even for a full day! The
    support person didn't seem to agree with me, however I escalated the issue (or so I thought) to the point where I was promised the game as compensation just like everyone else for having to replace my console. Long section of the story short, 4 weeks later
    and multiple calls to xbox support proved to end up with a supervisor casually telling me that I was lied to by his staff, that no repercussions would occur or compensation, and that I wouldn't be receiving the free game. Rudely on top of it all. WELL I was
    pretty fuming mad at this point but being still without a functioning Xbox I needed some kind of solution even if they were going to screw me over with the free game. I called once I had calmed down and setup an advanced exchange (WHICH I PAID FOR) in order
    to receive a new console. Remember this is already two consoles since launch which blew up on me.

    XBOX ONE 3:

    Alright so at this point I've received my 3rd Xbox One in an extremely fast shipment (advanced means advanced) and up until literally this month (December 2014) it actually worked! No complaints or anything and actually I must say that when the support call
    operator learned of my previous experience and how I was treated he went out of his way to provide me with a year free of xbox live. I was pretty thrilled that someone at Xbox support actually knew the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE. I considered it a win and
    just wanted to enjoy the Xbox for once instead of complaining about it. Until one of the recent updates it started to go wonky on me. I figure it was just having a moment like computers do but annoyingly it keeps having the same issues. All at once it no longer
    allows a hard reboot and will not go past the green Xbox One loading screen and when it does it just goes to a black screen and nothing changes for hours (i checked). So I knew that I would have to get Xbox support involved again...these guys must have been
    starting to recognize my *** phone # I was calling so much. Luckily I got another very helpful support person and he was able to walk me through a factory default reboot. He hung in there on the line with me while I followed the steps and anxiously waited
    for it to start up. SUCCESS! It booted right up! Almost like new again and I started to re-install all my games and do the updates and everything. I figured there was no way after this it could screw up on me again! Turns out it definitely could and would.
    Unfortunately a couple days later I started to experience the exact same issues until finally it turned off again and would not turn back on past the loading screen. I tried EVERYTHING, even the support guys had no other options other than to replace it...which
    brings me to today (December 4th 2014).

    XBOX ONE 4:

    While on the phone with Xbox support I had another advanced exchange arranged for me with a lot of sympathy from the support agent. She was great, friendly, and made me feel like I wasn't crazy to be upset over having my 4th Xbox One about
    to be sent to me in just over a year since launch. I figured this was it, NO WAY anything crappy could happen now. I gotta stop telling myself that, it seems to shoot me in the foot. Today is Thursday Dec 4 2014, I setup the advanced exchange
    on Friday November 28th 2014. The email I received from the agent helping said and I quote "This message confirms your order for a replacement Xbox console. Under the terms of the program, we’ll send you a replacement console within the next
    two (2) business days.
    " I'm no math genius but I'm pretty sure it's been a few more than that. Also it says I should have received a notification email when the new console has been shipped and is on the way. I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN
    THAT EMAIL.
    So not only am I fast approaching another weekend without a functioning Xbox One waiting for an advanced exchange which has proven to not be so advanced. I'm still getting *** over after having gone through 3 Xbox One consoles and
    deciding that I'm still a loyal Xbox customer just like I was when I purchased my first Xbox a decade ago.



    I guess I'm just really frustrated that I can't seem to catch a break and for whatever reason Xbox and bad luck have decided to put me through the ringer. I still have no clue when my new Xbox will arrive or if it has even been shipped yet. Don't promise
    me an advanced exchange if you can't deliver and don't put out a product if you can't handle resolutions when it doesn't work properly.

    Adding a fourth controller to a console

    I just purchased my Xbox 360 and 4 controllers. The fourth controller will not connect. I disconnected the first three and then reconnected in a different sequence. The balky controller synced, but the 4th one did not. So, it's not any of the controllers.
    It's the console connecting the 4th one. Any ideas?

    Does the console think there is a 4th controller connected? If so, how can I clear them all out?

    Really sad story, I can feel your pain.

    About shipment - I guess "advanced" only mean they send a new console before receiving yours - nothing more than that. Surely quicker than regular back and forth.

    The quality of hardware seems extremely low - no computer manufacturer would still be on market having that kind of return frequency - on the same customer even. Read too many such posts.

    X1 mark II is what to wait for - another year maybe. Not that many good game titles out anyway.

    I'm happy to report my replacement Xbox One arrived today. I never did receive the email about whether it had been shipped or not, I almost tripped on it because the UPS guy left it on the floor outside my apartment door for whatever reason. I don't want
    to jinx it but everything seems to be working properly.

    Mister Quimby I'm pretty sick and tired of having Official Xbox Support personnel give me the standardized conflict resolution script responses. If you actually read my post you would know it is absolutely unacceptable for Xbox to respond to my specific
    situation with the same old scripted response. You're lucky to still have me as a customer and if you can hear about the treatment of a customer such as my self by your company and still give the scripted garbage response then I truly believe Xbox has NO CLUE
    when it comes to customer service. Absolutely ridiculous.
