    4tb expansion card for Xbox Series X/S


    When will XBox release a 4tb expansion card for Series X/S? Playstation now has both 4 and 8 TB upgrade options available, but XBox seems to be doing nothing for its storage. I personally have a 2TB along with the 1TB internal. I am managing but I like to download and try many gamepass games. I seem to have to always find games to delete when something new comes out I want to try.



    I do have a 8TB external HDD but only older games can run off of that.



    Xbox had the 1TB expansion card much sooner than Sony, and the 2TB card about the same time Sony could install up to 4TB cards. Now it just seems Microsoft doesn't care.

    Hi,

    Both Series X/S games and Xbox One games that been optimised (I'm British) for Series X/S must be installed on either the internal storage or the expansion card. They can not be run from a USB connected storage device. My optimised Series X/S Xbox One games
    were moved to my Expansion card during their update.

    Are you using a Series S/X?

    Series S/X optimized games can only run from the internal SSD or an expansion card made specifically for the Series S/X.

    It's very unlikely they will do so given the small market for the existing cards until the hardware becomes cheaper to manufacture. You're talking about a card almost as expensive as an XSX

    You can purchase a 5TB USB drive to use for long term storage for under $100 and move games back and forth
