  1. 4k????

Hi! I recently purchased the XBOX 1 X Scorpio. I also purchased an AOC monitor to play it on (AOC U3277PWQU 32-Inch Class VA LED Monitor, 4K ). WHen I set the XBOX up I went into settings and indicated that I would like to have 4K output. The XBOX chatted
with my monitor for a second and then indicated that the set-up had failed because while my monitor has 4K it does not support HDR. Alas, I was returned to 1080p. I have explored the advanced settings but I cannot find a way to have 4K output without HDR. Admittedly,
I am low-tech when it comes to this stuff. Will the XBOX run 4K without HDR? If it is says that I am in 1080p am I actually in 4K? Since I have no experience with 4K and I cannot tell the difference just by looking at the game (I play Destiny 2).

    :)

  4. 4k????

My tv doesn’t do HDR, but I’m getting 4K. Do you have any other inputs on your monitor?

  5. No, but I do have an HDMI splitter that the the XBOX is plugged into before reaching the monitor

  6. No, but I do have an HDMI splitter that the XBOX is plugged into prior to reaching the monitor. Could this make a difference?

It should be able too. Not all 4K TV's have HDR.

    4k????

It will be the splitter thats the issue if I doesn't support 4K, if your not sure connect the xbox directly to the monitor, if you then get 4K enabled you know its the splitter preventing you getting 4K

  9. The splitter is very likely to be the culprit. If you haven't already then try connecting the console directly.

  10. I've been using hdmi 4->1 switch box for years, and was looking at upgrading if to get 4k something.

And very few to select from - remember hdmi 2.0b out as I recall.

So also think all to do with splitter.

Does 4K on xbox one x work on all games?

4K is about the resolution that is capable, not the power of a system. A 4K tv means its capable and will support 4K resolution. It all depends on if a game is made and supports 4K if it will display in 4K on a 4K tv.

Xbox One X won't play 4K from Sky Q through input and output HDMI Connection

The HDMI IN on the XBOX ONE / ONE S / ONE X are all just 1080P there is no 4K pass through on those consoles.

The Xbox One S Supports 4K Bluray and 4K screen resolution - not 4K gaming

The Xbox One X Supports 4K Gaming, 4K Bluray and 4K screen resolution

    - Game developer has to make the game 4K

    - 4K pass-through is a hardware feature that does not exist within the console. You'd be better

off running your 4k Sky Q into the TV directly. (the xbox is doing what it's designed to do)

    4K content

The Xbox One will only output at 1080p

The Xbox One S features 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, 4K video streaming and High Dynamic Range (HDR) for games and video. In addition to supporting 4K video content when used in conjunction with a 4K TV, Xbox One S will also upscale non-4K content
to display at 4K when paired with a 4K TV. When you set your console resolution to 4K UHD, everything on the console — Home, games, and apps—will display at 4K. 4K content is displayed in its native 4K resolution, and other content (like 1080p content) is
    upscaled to 4K.

The Xbox One X - 4K content is displayed in its native 4K resolution, and other content (like games encoded for 1080p) is upscaled to 4K

    Xbox One and 4K output

well, to display 4k resolution and to play a 4k game is totally different ~~~~

i think XB1 will support 4k playback like 4k BD movie in the future, but 4k game??? i dont think so ....

    4k 60 fps

It is 4k upscaled but not native 4k. The main difference being that the Xbox One S takes a 1080p(or lower) image and upscales the resolution to appear in 4k while the Xbox One X is capable of playing some games directly in 4k resolution. Upscaled 4k is has
a sharper image that 1080p but is still a little less detailed that native 4k.

So yes, while you are seeing a 4k image when possible, it is not true 4k.
