Why? consoles should all be able to play the same game to keep a community, the reset imo is up for debate.

There are more elements that would need to change for changed resolutions than you'd think. There is the resolution of textures to begin with, how the game smooths jaggies, how the levels/environment loads, draw distance, even something as simple as crosshair
placement needs to be taken into account.

While not the same system look at Rise of the Tomb Raider on 360 and Xbox One. Still an amazing looking game but you can see from the off the compromises they had to make to account for the weaker system.

 

Well, I was thinking the same thing, Alienware made an external graphics card + Ram add on you can buy and "upgrade" their performance, i thought this is something id be happy to buy to add power to my XB one. This is a great idea to extend the life of the
box till the next iteration, will be a better / happier buy in than the kinect. MS don't let em walk all over you.

 

@electro neither company can do 4k on the cheap, neither were willing to take losses on hardware this gen and it was the weakest console gen in comparison to pc there ever was, they were well behind the curve.

It costs £300-£400 to build a pc that will outperform either console, I cant see ms or sony wanting to absorb the losses of a 4k console when you consider the cost is 4-5 times that, your going to pay for it if they go that route.

@lost I completely agree, it works for ms on a couple of levels, and allows time for hardware to mature keeping costs down.

My XB1 has racing stripes which can only mean it's way bigger than the one you guys own.

 

I have a 4K UHD LG TV... the games look pretty nice on them already.

 

Games don't have to be 4k or 1080p native, to be fun. And that's coming from me ^u^

I love Rocket League and Xbox. Be happy with how Xbox 1 and Xbox 360 are right now. No need to fork out lots of money for expensive hardware. Xbox has a lot of good games and the Xbox Live experience though not 100% perfect all the time, it's great. But
if you want to throw money at a "graphics amplifier" feel free to while I have a lol.

 

I too wish Microsoft rolled out GDDR5 RAM rather than DDR3 RAM, they probably got A LOT of comments about that decision. But Xbox 1 does have games on it which are 1080p native. 4k maybe kwl but in a few years time some will look at it as obsolete when 8k
or 32k seem to be the norm. But why not stop there, lets make it 100k. As for the Upgrade thingy going on with 8th gen consoles, I'm not for it. When it comes to their next product learn from your mistakes and create something inspirational. Not be only 2
years and a few months into a console's lifespan as suddenly realize "oops, we made this console too weak". But I will settle with how Xbox 1 is right now. It saves me forking out $4,000 on expensive hardware which kwazy people or rich people or people who
are up themselves may want. I read that Xbox 1's ESRAM is capable of a theoretical peak performance of 192GB/sec ESRAM. And DDR3 has lower latency than GDDR5. Millions people play on Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. Not because every game can't be 4k or 1080p native,
but because it's a product they want to use. And there is definitely merit to how Microsoft runs Xbox.
