You were ripped off on a scale so huge that it would fit Everest in its pocket.

Realistically looking at this scenario that might be heading this Gen (both PS4.5 and Xbox One.5) I would have to say being conservative that 1080/60 fps is going to be the 1st standard benchmark.

I say this for a reason, apply it logically and ask if either MS or Sony could make a 4k/ 30 fps system right now would they? My answer would be no, they would not jump straight to 4k resolutions. Call me dark or a cynical but I see a future ahead in which
smaller increments are released in a annual manner to keep profit up. Call it the "season pass" of Consoles if you will.

The road-map for the above may look a little like this-

    • .5 version sku- 1080/ 60 fps (stable all Games)
    • 2.0 version sku- 2k/ 60 or 30 fps (variable)
    • 2.5 version sku- 2k/ 60 fps (stable all Games)
    • 3.0 version sku- 2k/ 120 fps or 4k/ 30 fps (variable)
    • 3.5 version sku- 4k/ 60 fps (all Games)
    • and so on

It's coming everyone and get ready for it. I'm calling it out now, Consoles are soon to be the new "Season Pass" of Hardware.

^^ Scary but I can see it too.

Also who paid 100 for an HDMI cable? They are all the same. They cost like 5 euro.

I predict a lot of unhappy people with regular console hardware updates if that is the case. Personally, it's something I would of been happy doing if I hadn't moved to mainly pc gaming over the last year. The reason I moved is because I wanted better hardware
more regularly. I'm not sure the majority of console gamers think or even want the same as I did/do though, so this as potential to back fire.

I would probable just ditch consoles if they went down that road...I cant see them doing that its against the console mind-set in my opinion.

I second this scenario. I can see it working with the millennials. ;-)

I would just ditch gaming all together. Believe they are trying to change that mindset into more of a iPad/iPhone mindset...pay big bucks every year or two for a product that is "marginally" better.

5 years would be the sweet spot for me; get the hype train going at 4 years, make the next system B.C., and I'm in. Lol.

    Peace, J.R.

from what MS have said so far everything is possible to be backward compatable, so 4K will still have to work on on lower res, and if thats the case I don't see the issue, I don't get the 4k thing tbh, i still play on a 720 TV, my sons looks better but
I have just as much fun. I also have never watched a blue ray, and don't own any.

if console develops so if people want to buy a high end 4k console and i can buy a 720 console and still play together I don't have an issue, if they make me upgrade i will seriously consider stop console gaming.

That's the thing though Enen, there would come a point where you'd have to upgrade.

Publishers/developers would insist that their games needs the newest hardware and they can't possibly make it run on the older version.

Goatsnatcher is right, this goes against the console gamer mindset. You know when you buy a console that the games are always going to run, they will run on a launch system just the same as on a end of generation model. There have been hardware upgrades
for consoles in the past and look how successful they turned out to be.

If people want the option to upgrade their hardware then they'd already be gaming on the PC.

There will always come a point you will have to upgrade, no one is suggestion anything else.

however because a game runs in different resolutions only means 1 element has to change (very roughly speaking).

pc machines get old quick compared to the place they were purchase at, but go on for years after.

I don't think MS are talking about upgrading sperate bits of hardware they are talking about different versions of an xbox.

Console gamers, what to buy a box that plays games at a price they can afford, and just play, so whats the issue if they sell different versions of the same box? one does 4k one does 720, but the core components are the same with the exception of graphics
    handlers?

If they waited a few years between the upgrades, and phased out the old, I could see it working. Taking a Steam Machine approach with multiple "power" offerings would confuse the masses. Who wants to buy a console that's inferior from the start? Lol.

^ which is the point, consoles should be a level playing field, everyone has access/buys the same kit everyone plays together on the same system. Any product that attempts to divide that market would be a bold move.

And can you imagine the same brand sub standard console wars? 4k with a "Graphics Amplifier"! Lol. :)
