    So is there a date that you plan on fixing playback for NON MICROSOFT media? So far not one of my many 4k movies played all the way through without issues! Many wont even play, the ones that do take about 15 min of reseting the app, xbox until it finaly
    plays only to have the screen go blank in sections and audio become out of sync. Bought the latest LG 65” 4k oled tv to go with this and am now stuck with either reconnecting the xbox one x or buying a stand alone 4k bluray player for another $300.

    Last gen it was all about home entertainment and this gen there is not even an audio out on the box so unless you have the latest surround sound receiver you cant use surround sound unless you go through the tv then hopefully you have a tv and receiver that
    is earc compatible because many receivers like mine only do the 7.1 and atmos through hdmi only and since i cant send my xbox series x through it as its not compatible with the latest hdmi standard(hdmi 2.1?) i can only do optical out on tv at 5.1. What were
    you thinking? Many high end devices usualy have 2 hdmi these days for this reason. One for latest 4k/8k uhd and one for audio!

    It doesn't support 4K UHD playback.

    If you are referring to "Mastered in 4K" discs those are just 1080p titles made from a 4K master.

    New hardware is required to playback UHD Blu-Ray.

    XBOX ONE S poor HDR support with UHD BluRays

    I'm having similar issue with HDR content especially through 4K UHD Blu-ray playback. There seems to be no fix for past 10 months. This is very poor of Microsoft to ignore. Now that Xbox One X is out, it too have HDR issues with 4K UHD player & Netflix app.

    Total system crash on Xbox One S while running a UHD 4K BluRay & no ATMOS or DTS X.

    I too purchased the Huntsman 4K from Bestbuy several days ago. Also own the JU7100 (Receiver is a Denon 1300X). Played the extended version without issue. Obviously there is not a consistent issue with the XBONE-S and 4K UHD playback.

    I can't get UHD Movies to play at all. How they can advertise the XBOX One S as being capable of 4k Blu Ray playback when it clearly isn't seems pretty sketchy to me.

    This is educated speculation

    The scaler in the Xbox may only operate at 60hz. Your TV already has a scaler, no need to have the Xbox do it for you, so leaving “allow 4K” unchecked shouldn’t be an issue
    I hear that. However, “allow 4K” is required to playback UHD Blu-ray Discs. Otherwise, it will play a UHD discs as HD.

    Setting the display resolution to 1080p stops the upscaling and will automatically switch to 4K if the content is native 4K. But HD content still only plays at 60Hz no matter the display resolution setting.
