4K UHD Bluray Freezes, Skips on Project Scorpio Edition Xbox One X

My Project Scorpio edition Xbox One X has a major issue with 4K bluray playback. Roughly in the middle of most movies (I'd say 75%), the playback will stutter and freeze. On the worst occasions, I will actually have to physically quit the app and reload
and literally skip past that complete part of the movie to continue watching. On some movies, it's just a matter of waiting for the stuttering to stop. Then sometimes on others there is no issue at all. I know it's an issue with either the hardware or software
reading the disc because it not only freezes in the same spot, but also freezes when fast forwarding through the movie on the same spot. I have tried almost any possible troubleshooting step there is and I really want to avoid sending in the console for repair
especially if it's just a matter of the BluRay player application still being buggy.

This issue does not apply to regular DVD's, regular Bluray's, or Xbox One game discs so that has me thinking the actual drive itself is OK. I've seen a ton of issues out there with the Xbox One S and X when being used as a 4K UHD bluray player but most
of those issues don't identify exactly with the issue I'm having. I'm thinking of buying a stand-alone 4K UHD bluray player to use primarily for now and then if and when these types of issues are fixed just use it as a backup on my other 4K tv.

Does anyone else share this exact same problem? Any feedback at all is appreciated.

While we realize this is not ideal, something we've seen help with some users experiencing Blu-ray playback issues on their Xbox One X console is a

full factory reset of your console.

I’m having the same EXACT issues - it seems as though the 4K UHD is passing too much info at certain points of the movies. I get pixelization and freezes at the same points in the same scenes on the same movies. It is very frustrating as watching 4K movies
is the reason I upgraded from the XBONE to the 1X in the first place.i tried the system reset as I recently had my Xbox one x returned from service and it doesn’t help I had the issues before I sent out and still have the same problems after I got the console
back. I am going to try different HDMI cables to try to get it to work as I am currently using supplied Xbox one x cable. FWIW I have a samsung 4K HDR tv.

 

after purchasing an ultra HD 18Gbps HDMI cable, I still had the same issues. After much thought, I decided to check the obvious...fingerprints on the disk. After cleaning thoroughly - the skipping, jitters and artifacts disappeared, even after going back
to my original hdmi cable. I then checked the other disk (passengers 4K) and sure enough - fingerprints on there too. Please be careful handling these disks as 4K UHD is much more sensitive to fingerprints then DVDs and Blu-ray. Hope this helps others, as
it is what the problem was for me.

 

Mine does not skip or freeze on me but the audio is off sync for about 3 to 4 seconds. how do I fix that? Its also the second copy because i exchanged the first one cause it did the same thing. How can i fix it so the movie is synced?

 

All I can say I have a lot of 4k movies and so far none of them do that I wonder what is going on with your xbox...hope it gets fixed soon for you...

 

I’ve had my fair share of issues with my admittedly small UHD library. One thing I always do when I get an issue on a disc is take it out and clean it. Even sometimes factory fresh there will be a film on the disc that you can’t see. Mind you this does not
solve every issue but it has solved a couple for me.
