4k UHD Blu Ray Disc Not Working on Xbox One X

Purchased the 4K Blu-Ray of Alien Covenant to watch on my new Xbox One X via my LG Oled 4K B7 TV. However I am getting a blank screen when trying to play the disc. Looked online for troubleshooting tips only to find this is a concurrent issue that originally
started with the Xbox One S. Am seriously disappointed in Microsoft for releasing a Console that has the same issues especially at £450. So after trying several things via the MS support site, I am still having the same issue!!!

    :)

    Hey there ricedemon,

That's an odd issue for sure, one that we've not seen with 4K UHD discs. Which Blu-ray title are you playing that you're seeing this issue? To clarify, are you sure that you're using the 4K UHD disc and not the Standard Blu-ray? Can you share a picture of
the disc as well? Does the issue happen with all 4k UHD discs you try.

    Let us know!

    Hey there Man5rgedInSteel.

Really sorry to hear about issues with your movie, have you by chance tried exchanging for a different copy at your retailer? Generally we recommend reaching out to the movie studio for an exchange, as they'll often provide a speed turn around for the exchange.

  5. In the same situation as this, guy. We bought xbox one x, same LG B7 tv, and four 4k UHD blu rays two days ago. Only 1 of the blurays works and the other 3 freeze their video after 1 second, but the sound keeps playing.

  6. I had problems also with the Blu Ray's reproduction. At the begining, It did not works correctly but finally I can saw the movie (Planet Earth II). Only I tried twice... no more... I had fear...

Finally, in less than 6 hours and going back to the menus, the system fell down and the disc got stuck inside...

My Xbox One X (Project Scorpio edition) is now way to Germany... to the technical service... 4k UHD Blu Ray Disc Not Working on Xbox One X :(

Xbox One X should get an "upgrade" to an Ultra HD Blu-ray Player for 4K to be worth it.

    Hi,

The One X can already play 4K UHD Blu-Ray movie discs, the same as the One S. There's nothing to upgrade.

Xbox One X disc drive to loud to be used as an UHD Bluray player

It's normal unfortunately 4k uhd discs have to spin faster than normal blu ray so the noise is the disc drive most of the 4k uhd blu ray players have a similar problem it's infuriating during quite scenes.

You can either put your xbox in a cabinet to reduce the noise or I bought a pioneer udp lx 500 as the disc drives are soundproofed but there hefty and there not cheap but they do have a noticeably better picture than the xbox one x.

    Series X question

I ended up doing that as I was a bit worried about the optical drive in my Xbox One x when it refused to play certain 4k Blue ray disks.
My old Xbox One X had issues with some UHD movies, so much so that I too bought a stand alone UHD Blue-ray player. Playback issues were (probably still are) common on the One X. I've never played a single Blu-ray, UHD Blu-ray or DVD in my Series X.

There really isn't any need to test all of the discs. Test a few. If the discs are in good clean order they would have played on another BD player.
