4k Support for viewing Pictures via Media Player

Does anyone knows if the XBox One is able to Playback Pictures (from an DLNA source) with native 4k Resolution?

I spend some time on Research but there are only unclear Statements available like: 4k Resolution is supported - some state for Video - Did anyone had success in getting this to work?

XBox 360 vs XBox One vs PS4 as media player

I also recommend you look into Plex media server
Xbox One S shine above as a media player if you also need a 4k disk player with full audio support. It can also support Plex DVR

of course both consoles also play top end games

if you don't need that then maybe a dedicated media player - personally I use a mix of two AppleTV4 and two Nivdia Shield TV's in different rooms/purpose

Does Xbox One X support 4K video files?

Hi all,

I was just wondering if the Xbox One X fully supports 4K video files through the Media Player app.

I know the S did not support 4K video files, but the PS4 Pro and standalone 4K players do.

Does the Xbox One X now support 4K video file playback?

Hi there! Right now the Xbox cannot output any resolution higher than 1080p. I've seen where MS says that 4k is coming, they just have not said when.

As far as i know of there isnt a way to. But you put this into the universe so it will most likely happen soon!

I hope it does happen soon. The media player is much more reliable when playing files over a network than the PS4's but my long list of videos being shown as thumbnails just kills it for me.

Hm this is the first I've heard of this topic but I suggest looking through YouTube or looking at some how-to posts online. The internet is a vast place and some consider a world of its own so there's bound to be something that can help you but the way I
see it, the more waters you bait the more likely you are to catch the fish.
