4k problems on xbox one s

but should 1080p blu rays shouldn't they be upscale to 4 k

 

They are letting the TV do the up-scaling (which most good 4k tvs can do well). I'm not sure why they suddenly switched the app/system to output them at native 1080p instead of the upscaled 4k. Would be nice if they gave you a setting where you could choose
to have the system upscale blu-rays though.

 

Here is a problem, Xbox has the Vudu, Amazon, and Netflix app but tye players dont have any of the 4K content i onow they have......cuz i get them through my 2 year old 4K tv's apps of said services. Thats a glaring let down. Not to mention no uhd/4K movie
rentwls via a download to harddrive or streaming option. This is tye Xbox roll out all over. Simple things that should be glaring inclusuons into a tech of 2014- not to mention 2016. Wah wah

 

Wait, this Xbox doesnt heve a 1080p-4K upscaler present on any $100 stwnd alone blu-ray plsyer put out over the past couple years? Hey microsoft- i think you dropped another ball again ( system rollout). My tvs built in app from netflix, smaxon, and Vudu
also have 4K content....yet none when i go into the xbox app versions. What a disaster roll out all over again. If i can only get 4K from discs and not the current tech of streaming apps ill be dissappointed. If i cannot rent nor buy downloadable versions
of 4K movies available sometime soon, I'll be devastated. My advice to most is that your tvs netflix, Amazon, and Vudu apps ( available in your tvs app store for free) do the same as this version of xbox. For the price i paid i expected the netflix app to
stream 4K (i have 30mbps and do it on my tvs built in netflix app now), no 4K content from Amazon ( Man in the High Castle is awesome), and no current video store to rent or stream movies currently out or coming out on UHD Blu-ray discs, I'd really wait for
Xbox to uet again pull its head out of the sand to see the 4 alarm fire they've set again with this roll out. Can you guys put out a finished product or should i expect to buy a console each cycke thst needs 2 years to get its act together, and in that timeframe
its price to be cut in half?

 

It's sad what this machine isn't able to do, I'm trading it in to Best Buy and getting a dedicated 4K player that will actually do what I need it to do with regards to 4K. So sorry I jumped on this machine. Let's hope the ps4 neo handles these issues better.

 

@warrior. Netflix does stream 4k on one s. Amazon and busy have to update their apps. On annoyed about some of this stuff too, but let's not blame them for things that can't really control. Hold them accountable for the ones they can.

 

The sole reason i bought this was to play uhd blu ray movies and i hoped to rent them from a downloadable movie store. I have a ton of blu ray movies(100?) that sit idely on my shelf cuz i watch them once, then they sit forever. I may watch it again within
a year but the vast majority of my friends aren't like me, in that, i love movies. If i like a movie ill watch it over and over. Ive seen the nearly 3 hour behemoth that is Pulp Fiction at least 100 times over the past 22 years. In the early 2000's I'd
watch it nearly every month with my brother. He has subsequently moved away and noone left in my life now likes to watch movies multiple times- forget about once a month. I need to rent for $8-9 a UHD movie cuz it'll save me hundreds-maybe thousands in
the long run.

 

I'll have to go back into my Xbox app to see about the Netflix 4K. My Netflix app on my tv was able to group all the 4K content into one area so that I knew what was available in 4K and not. I didn't see any 4K grouping. I'll have to pop in a Blu-Ray
to see if I notice upscaling from 1080p-4K. This device was built in large part for 4 K video. A rental store with downloadable content should be here on day one. Since it isn't, I'd expect it to be put in before Thanksgiving at the absolute latest.

 

The netflix app definately has zero 4K content, which my netflix tv app does, flight of the butterflies lists as HD in the netflix app but 4K on my Netflix tv app. Nice job Xbox. This is a 1080p xbox that can play uhd blu-ray discs and stream HD content
from rentals and streaming seevices that offer UHD movies/original content. I imagine the Scorpio console will only play xbox one games at 1080p and will need an update to play Scorpio games in Uhd months down the road. If you bought a car and they said,''
yeah we sold it and the specs say it can be put into drive and itll go forward but right now it only works in reverse and neutral- youd say,'' the car was marketed that it could go foreard, its the main reason i bought it over my 2 year old car that only drives
reverse and foreard, id bet you wouod be justified in being a bit upset. Is it fair ror me to say to xbox thst I'll take the xbox one S now but ik going to pay you at some point down the road without any interest/bonus?

 

To Chanogram: this makes no sense, so games are upscaled to 4K from 1080p but movies that are 1080p are not upscaled as well? What a blind spot. All should be upscaled. Makes absolutely 0 sense to have a program to upscale 1080p games ( though I heard
most Xbox one games run at 720p) but that same program cannot upscale 1080p movies to 4K? As I said in another thread, this $400 Xbox should have the upscale capabilities of any $100 upscaling blu-Ray player and it should stream all of netflix's UHD content.
It does neither. Wah wah.

also, Netflix doesn't stream 4K on the Xbox One S. I checked, Flight of the Butterflies is a 4K title but only says HD on the title page when viewed on the Xbox One S. My tv's Netflix app lists it as 4K.

 

Netflix does stream 4k on the console. I've watched multiple movies And shows in 4k. If you don't see a 4k category on your Netflix it Probably means you don't have the high end subscription with them. If you don't have that subscription level it won't display
the 4k titles on the One S. You might not even be watching them in 4k on your tv even though it lists it at 4K. Just don't argue with me about this because it IS there. To look it up elsewhere if you don't believe me.

The do oved, Rediculous six, and Marco Polos second season even have HDR. And I'm not defending it, im simply stating how it works. Also, it doesn't even sound like you own this console... Most Xbox One games are not 720p. You honestly like a fanboy that
is coming here to complain And start arguments.

 

Go to Netflix.com and check your subscription level. See if you have the UHD option. Of you dont, I have no idea why your tv app shows them. If you do, I have no idea why the xbox is app isn't showing them. But just because you can't get it to work doesn't

I can't get my One S to kick into 4k for anything! All because it wrongfully identifies my TV as not capable of any of it yet I have UHD, 24Hz, and 50Hz enabled in the Advanced options. Whether it's Netflix, the dashboard, or Blu-Ray, my system stays in
1080p because my TV auto-detects the output resolution. Because of the asinine implementation of how Microsoft detects what the TV is capable of, my XBOX One S is going to get packed up and shipped back to Amazon!

 

Firebird. Have you hooked up any other 4k devices to your tv before? If not, you probably have to change a setting on the tv itself to allow the enhanced signal. I had to do this for both my receiver and tv.
