4k problems on xbox one s

Hello, i seem to be having a problem with blu rays not being upscaled to 4k since the new blu ray app update, all other areas still upscale (netflix,vudu, amazon, etc.). I also just picked up the 4k of Obliviion and it won't even play. There seem
to be a number of people having this problem with this particular 4k(oblivion), all of my other 4k movies work fine so i am wondering if it is a read issue with this particular disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Yes I can definitely confirm this. Having the exact same problem. I've been in contact with Support on Twitter and they are useless... they don't want to acknowledge the problem. It seems to be since the last system update because before that, it worked
great for me.

I suggest you get in touch with support on Twitter, and complain there until they get the message.

Are specifically having this issue with the 4K Blue-Ray version of Oblivion as well? I saw that you mentioned 4K Blu-Rays worked before the update, did you set up your Xbox One S and try a 4K Blu-ray before updating?

Thanks for posting this up, are there any other Universal Studios 4K Blu-Ray movies that you can try out as well? In the meantime, please try uninstalling the Blu-Ray app, power cycle your Xbox One S console by holding the power button, and then reinstall
the Blu-Ray app.

I'm not sure about Oblivion specifically, but the main problem I've noticed since either the last system update or Blu-ray app update, that normal Blu-rays aren't upscaling to 4k anymore. They stay at 1080p. Whereas before the last update, it worked perfectly.

I've been through ALL the troubleshooting steps with support, nothing works. And it's only when playing Blu-rays that I notice this... for everything else (gaming, dashboard etc), it stays at 4k res.

 

Regarding the Oblivion (and Lucy) 4k blu ray issues:

I'm getting the "run around" from every person i've talked to, and there are multiple threads in forums around the internet with people having problems with 2 Universal published UHD discs: Lucy and Oblivion. Same syptoms: freeze at blu ray app launch/loading.

I've tried the following to get Lucy to play, with no luck. Here are the things i've tried for reference:

Removing profile and re-adding profile.

Power Cycling, multiple times,

Uninstall/reinstall blu ray app.

Moving blu ray app to internal drive instead of external.

Turning off HDR support.

Turning off BD Live support.

Clearing the persistent storage.

Nothing has worked, and i've tried 3 different UHD Lucy discs from 3 different best buys in my area.

Any help, or running this up the chain will be greatly appreciated. Lots of people (including myself) bought this primarily as a UHD player, and many are already considering returning it for a standalone (i'm not there yet).

Hey all,

We are aware of isolated reports of a small number of Ultra-HD Blu-Ray titles that may not play on Xbox One S consoles. Rest assured, our engineering teams are aware and are investigating. Your console does not need to be replaced or repaired.

 

I am having a similar issue. My xbox one s and tv support all video functions, and when gaming or in the menus, my tv shows that the output is in 4k. As soon as I load up Deadpool 4k blu-ray, my tv shows that the output is 1080p.. Any ideas?

Theres loads that bought the Xbox one S as a 4k Bluray player .... When will this issue with Oblivion and Lucy getting fixed ? Got the Movies n cant play them.

On AvS forum there a Xbox one S tread with loads of 4k lovers that not happy atm... Well worth a read microsoft.

 

Is there a way to see what bit rate and resolution your UHD blu-rays or Netflix is playing back at? I want to be certain it's playing back at 3840(4K) resolution and 10 bit color depth. I've had issues with multiple Roku 4 devices telling my tv doesn't
support UHD deep color, it not only supports UHD, it's supports 10 bit, and ithe roku was telling me that my HDMI input isn't HDCP 2.2 ( and it is). I need to verify because if there's an issue, my tv warranty should replace the cost ( I've tried replacing
motherboard and no luck). I verified specs with manufacturer.

 

I am dealing with the same issue. I get everything else in 4k but I pop in a standard blu ray and blinks back down to 1080p. I have yet to try and 4k movies.

As far as Blu-ray movies not being up-scaled to 4K, this is by design. All Blu-ray movies are intended to play natively at 1080p, while UHD movies will play natively at 4K. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused.
