4K Pass-through on Xbox One S?

I have it confirmed twice that it would support it by Xbox advisors yet now it no longer does?? Poor poor service.

 

It's almost laughable really that Microsoft designed a new Xbox with a big focus on people with 4K TVs yet you can't watch tv in 4K.

This happened when a massive thread was created due to Xbox One controller disconnecting midway playing games, this was never answered and continually the 'Staff' kept posting crap about how they were looking into it and they were asking for people to keep
testing different avenues.... all a pack of lies!!

I started a thread on it also and it go pretty far until it got closed....I feel a bit of Dejavu coming with how long this thread is taking

I was also told I could watch my native 4K SkyQ through my Xbox One S, can anyone find solid proof in black and white stating we could watch Live 4K TV through the Xbox One S ?

I'm just shaking my head reading all this

Not sure how true this is but I read it in a article published by hd-report who said they spoke to Microsoft regarding the issue and they commented by saying this.

Microsoft has commented that they are able to add 4K pass-through functionality to the Xbox One S via a firmware update, but currently, do not plan to do so until 4K broadcasts become more widespread and the demand for this feature grows.

 

Not sure why they would hold back on such a feature though to be honest!!

 

That's probably a pack of lies, why introduce a console that allows 4K to be played, but CAN'T pass-through!!

I feel sometimes what we read from MS is just what they want you to believe they are doing, in truth, probably time wasting and not actually doing anything anyway

If there is solid clear evidence from MS, even a transcript with date, time and MS agent then please get this posted

To tell us that they don't have any plans until the broadcast become more widespread...sorry but I call 'Bull***', this should be something MS should be taking seriously NOW, I would say hundreds of thousands of people are using the console to play 4K content
on their 4K TV and I'm sure they'd also like to watch their e.g SkyQ through it also.

Well said Saxo ! I also feel very passionate about this! The fact first off that Microsoft support were telling everyone it would do 4k pass through no problem they've been advising this for the last 6 weeks. Cos of thier advise I upgrade to sky q silver
and buy an xbox S . Now I can't pass through 4k I have sky straight into TV so now my kinect has become redundant no voice or no controller control, my turtle beach wireless headset I can't use to watch tv !! I I shouldnt have to settle for 1080 pass through
and constant swapping of HDMI I really don't need to spell it out think this is a massive let down the fact Xbox have been so cagey about it . This needs to be a TOP PRIORITY. And this needs addressing asap. If it where possible to fix with an update they'd
do it straight away the fact theve said they'd look at it when 4k broadcast becomes more wide spread doesn't bode well

Xbox One S: HDMI pass-through

One of the appealing things about the Xbox One is using it to control everything. It can control your TV, connected devices, sound system and so on. The integration of set-top boxes means that the OneGuide can serve up a menu of TV programming you might
want to watch.

Cable, satellite or other set-top boxes took advantage of HDMI pass-through. HDMI pass-though, however, doesn't support 4K sources. We tried connecting the Samsung K8500 Ultra HD Blu-ray player and although the image plays through the TV, it's not Ultra
HD Blu-ray quality with stunning HDR.

While you wouldn’t need to connect a Blu-ray player, if you had thoughts of hooking up a Sky Q box or Ultra HD BT YouView box, you'll lose the UHD parts.

The Xbox still outputs a 2160p signal to the TV, but we suspect it's been downscaled to 1080p and then upscaled, rather than natively preserved.

We questioned Xbox about this and received the following statement: "Xbox One S does not currently support 4K pass-through via HDMI-in. We will continue to explore making the changes needed for the hardware to support pass-through as 4K broadcasts become
more widespread."

Well that's correct Andy. In simple words, Xbox One S only upscale 1080 p to 4k does not support a pass through of native 4K content.

The HDMI input does not support 4K and if a user attempts to display 4K content, their set top box will display an error message stating that the input on your TV does not support 4K UHD content.

As for that Andy, since the system is designed this way for certain purposes, Xbox One S might be limited on this feature as of now but we would love to hear it from you guys and definitely, Xbox has a room for improvements. You may want to post it on:

Microsoft offered me 1 months gold subscription free as compensation for giving me false information, I'm not sure that £4 is going to help after upgrading my satellite subscription on a 18 month contract and spending £350 on a new console based on there
false claims!!

 

Will someone from Microsoft please be fair with your customers and tell us if this is a hardware limitation or a firmware limitation. You have millions of customers spending $400, we deserve to know. Stop turning a blind eye to this, it has been over almost
a month now. If it is a firmware limitation, i can deal with that. If it is the other way around, that is extrememly messed up.
