4k is not supported on my monitor

    Hi,

Today I purchased the new Xbox One S, though I'm having a problem.

4k is not supported on my computer monitor when attempting to select the setting in the settings on the console. It gives an error message saying "4k is supported by your TV, but not 60 hz." Even though the monitor (Asus PB287Q) does both support 4k ultra
HD resolution and run at 60 hz, both which work perfectly on my computer.

When I enter the advanced settings in Video/Audio it only displays that 50 hz is the maximum. I have followed every troubleshooting guide by Microsoft and still the error appears.

Then I'm wondering if this is something on Microsoft's end, if there is a bug somewhere preventing me from selecting 4k resolution, or if computer monitors aren't supported on the console.

I would be happy to know if there is any solution to this,

    :)

1440p not yet supported, my monitor is still only using 1080p but my monitor actually supports 1440p.

I'm still having the same issue. As you probably can see on Asus' website, the monitor Asus PB287Q does support 60 hz.

When will Xbox support HDR on 1080p?

No, this does not solve my issue. When I enable 4k (Mind you, my monitor does NOT support 4k res), it then upscales my res from 1080p to 4k and only then enables HDR on my monitor. Which in the end looks super terrible.

This does not happen on PS4, on PS4 any HDR supported game opens on 1080p and works great, there is no need to upscale my res on PS4 to 4k. Why can the xbox not just support this too?

    One X 4k issues

Make sure your monitor supports HDMI 2.0 so it can do 4k at 60hz. HDMI 1.4 can only do 4k at 30hz and the xbox one does not support that. For example, my monitor does not support 4k 60hz with HDMI but it does with display port. My max resolution is 1440p
on HDMI. I do have HDMI 2.0 though, but something must not be detecting it properly.

Monitors are trickier than TVs because auto-detect sometimes does not work correctly and the xbox does not know that the monitor can do 4k at 60hz through HDMI. And if you select Manual from Auto Detect on the xbox one settings, you can't select 4k because
4k is only available when you have auto detect enabled, to my knowledge.

Display port is one thing that monitors like yours have, that support 4k at 60hz and more, but the xbox does not officially support display port and you would need a special "active" adapter for that and xbox can't guarantee that that will work.

yea so my monitor is the problem. I tested it on another monitor that supports 120hz on xbox. It worked fine, same with 4k.
