    4K input and Atmos issues


    Although I love the X, I am disappointed with two key things so far:

    1. 4K input from provider. It appears the TV in is a 1.4a input. This means no HDCP 2.2 or 4K. I find this unacceptable for a machine marketed as a 4K entertainment and gaming system.

    Although most don't care right now, 4K will arrive and has for DirecTV and other devices. As of now I have two choices, no 4K TV through X or downscale to 1080P. I may try a Blackird converter but overall this is a terrible solution (30Hz). I hope Microsoft
    has a plan in the works. Since I have had TV routed through Xbox since inception removing it and oneguide is a terrible solution for me.

    I hope a software update can work around this limitation but I assume not, and since I've upgraded from a One > S > X I'm not sure I would replace it again just for 4K TV in such a short span.

    2. The Atomos bug with headsets. When a headset is paired and Atmos is enabled it goes to 2.1. When you shutoff your headset and it is routed back to surround it is still 2.1 only. There needs to be a detection or toggle to get back to 5/7.1. The only
    workaround is to not use Atmos, or to unplug your headset. I prefer to not unplug since it is wireless and in the back, and long term will cause port/board issues from constant stress. So for now I do not get a feature that I paid for and like.

    Beyond this, I do love the X. At this time I think they are falling a little short on supporting technology that is new but standard right now. #1 will become a huge issue over the next year as providers and other devices start pushing 4K. I would love
    to hear if anything is in the works to address this.

    Simulated Atmos from XBOX One S?

    My question above was simply: 'does the XBOX One S have simulation capabilities for simulating ATMOS sound from a 5.1 or 7.1 surround input'? My system is functioning fine. I only ask because I tried setting the XBOX to ATMOS out with a 5.1 Dolby input
    from VUDU and my receiver displayed that I was receiving an ATMOS signal from the XBOX. I am using all highspeed 4k capable HDMI cables on all inputs and outputs.

    NO SOUND USING DOLBY ATMOS SOUNDBAR

    I have the following issue : "No sound using my samsung Dolby Atmos (HW-K850)" , all my cables are certificated for dolby atmos and 4k support.

    My actual connection is HDMI OUT XBOX to HDMI 1 in sound Bar and HDMI OUT (SOUNDBAR ARC) TO HDMI INPUT ARC in the TV.

    I tried everything and no sound

    Samsung UN55KU630DFXZA 55" 4K Smart TV

    Also I installed the Dolby Access APP

    Still no Dolby Atmos for my Onkyo TX NR797

    If you're not using a 4k tv or projector, that does create issues as only some apps and such encode atmos in 4k displays...
    No - I have

    Roku Ultra->Onkyo 797 (Inputs) and

    Onkyo 797 (Main output)-> Optoma UHD 50 (4k projector) connected in that sequence.

    Atmos not working on netflix and games

    Uninstall and reinstall what? I have the same issue. Atmos will only show on my receiver if I play a 4k UHD movie in the disc drive/blu blu app.

    Nothing else works and shows as multichannel PCM on my amp. Its an Onkyo TX-NR696.

    I have tried playing my 4K UHD movies through the Vudu app, Netflix Atmos movies, amd games like Gears of War 4 to test. All of it shows up as PCM on my Onkyo. I really want this to work for Vudu because I buy most of my movies in UHD through it.

    Xbox goes HDMI goes into the Game input on receiver. Settings in my Xbox are bitstream>dolby atmos through HDMI.

    Im also am Xbox insider.

    Atmos only outputs Multichannel

    I'm having same issue with onkyo rv840, but my tv is 4k. When I used onkyo 696 my receiver said xbox was outputting atmos and my receiver was thus outputting atmos. Now with new receiver it says "multich pcm" input and output.

    I've done extensive troubleshooting both with onkyo and xbox and without typing every detail out right now, we've safely concluded it's a xbox issue, not receiver. All settings are correct, eliminated cables, tv, and receiver as source of issue.

    Blu ray discs will play atmos from xbox, but streaming apps and games do multich pcm.

    This is driving me nuts! Plus keep the suggestions coming.
