4k Image Issues (Vizio Du50)

Hey, I just purchased an Xbox One S and am having some issues with upscaling in games. I'm using a Vizio D-Series (Du50 is the model number), and I've searched extensively to see if anyone else has had the same issues and have yet to find someone whos issue
matches mine.

When I'm playing a game (any game it appears) with 4k enabled (Xbox One S says i can upscale to 4k as I have 60hz refresh, but no HDR), it's as if the screen keeps flickering between 1080 and what I assume is 4k - the flickering happens intermittently with
the majority of the image looking identical to 1080. After awhile the screen will also display random "white tears" in the screen and then some motion lag also seems to follow in the overall image. No such issues occur when it is set to 1080.

Also, using a different HDMI wire (different from the one packaged with my Xbox One S) seems to produce the same result .

I am unsure if returning and replacing my Xbox One S will remedy this issue, or if this is an issue related to my TV itself. If anyone has any idea as to what is happening or a way to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

Fwiw ... Vizio 4k tvs are coming out novemberish. I'm waiting to upgrade to the 70in

OMG! I love my Xbox One so much right now

Vizio has 4k tv's with hdr, so she isn't correct.

 

On the setup screen, did it show you had ticks/checkmarks next to all the features (except HDR)?

Could you try plugging the console into a different HDMI port? I believe I saw other users with a Vizio and some display issues were fixed by using HDMI input 3.

I tried all the different ports, and my checklist said I have 4k@60hz and that while I was unable to use HDR features, I would be able to upscale my games to 4k.

 

I have the same model & everything you said is happening to me as well. From what I understand Vizio & MS are aware of what's going on & are looking into it.

 

Do you think it is potentially a issue with the hardware?

 

Interestingly enough, as I write this, it has completely stopped on my game - it's not an overheating issue by any chance do you think?

 

Can you see if the TV has any type of 'game mode' (in the way it might have cinema mode, etc, different colour profiles; could also be called PC mode) and enable that? It could be something like the TV is trying to do its own upscaling or excessive image
processing as well as the console, while in game mode the TV should do less of that.

 

Yes, I tried it with and without Game mode and the problem still occured.

 

It's hard to say really. I know if I leave the tv off for awhile & then quickly switch to 4k resolution it will last for about 12 minutes with no issue. At first I thought "maybe the TV can't handle it for too long" but then again I looked all over the internet
about any other things such as blu ray players having identical issues & I didn't find anything.

 

I thought the same thing Maxen. The upscalers might be budding heads

 

Hey Razerhdd, when these issues occur, do they slow the game down at all for you? If so, that would be indicative of a hardware issue, but I'm fairly certain my console has never slowed down in the context of these issues happening. I may still return my
console for piece of mind and try another model instead.

 

I didn't really notice any slow down. The tv was flickering so much I was racing to get back & change the resolution to 1080p before the signal cut out so I wasn't really paying attention though lol. I honestly don't think returning the console will fix
much. It appears that even other Vizio models (p & m series) are having issues as well so this seems to be a general issue with something Vizio is doing that just doesn't sit right with the Xbox one s. In all honesty I hope they get this fixed because so far
this TV pretty freakin good for gaming. The response time is just amazing on it.

 

Looking through the forum and on my own experience i think this is a general cause i use a uhd LG monitor and mine has the same sort of issues.

i think it is down to the UHD deep colour mode option - i have to turn this on to enable 60hz and i think the xbox is detecting it as a HDR screen as the checks show it can do it but isnt switched on but the xbox wont let it switch on.

either the screen is expecting something from the xbox or the xbox is trying to do something it cant.

either way its a xbox update needed or a a screen update - sadly no ones giving much help lol
