4K HDR capable on digital copies

So my brother told me that the xbox cant run 4K and hdr on digital copies, only hard copies. So thats my question, is it true or can i continue to buy digital copies as of now im waiting for the xbox one x so i cant really test this out.

Setting color depth for he's tv

Select "8-bit" if your 4K display is not capable of HDR. HDR content will be displayed in 8-bit, non-HDR color.

Select "10-bit" if your 4K display is capable of HDR. Non-HDR content will be automatically displayed in 8-bit color.

I need the standards supported by XBox One S for 3D Playback

Honestly, I don't think the Xbox One S is 3D capable. At least if it is I can find no information on it. It is 4k HDR capable.

Hi

It will all depend on if the game developer is supporting 4K plus HDR and also on what version of the Xbox One you are using. As an example both the disc and digital versions of Forza Horizon 3 running on an Xbox One S will display a HDR picture when connected
to a compatible television (And I believe 4K on Xbox One X when it launches).

There's no official support documentation specifically about the Xbox One X yet.

However, I'd imagine it will at least have the same support for 4K+HDR carried over from the Xbox One S, the specifications and troubleshooting of which can be found below.

I’ve tried another HDMI cable that is capable of 4k and HDR but it still wouldn’t work.
